Job DescriptionThe OSU Medical Center is committed to enhancing the quality of care our patients receive. The Social Worker functions as an integral member of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team on a patient care unit. The Treatment Team reflects a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The social worker functions within the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team to provide patient care and supportive services that are directed at achievementof patient care outcomes, maximizing the patients involvement in his/her own care plan, improving service levels, reducing the length of hospitalization, and decreasing costs. Patients and their family will experience the benefits of patient focused care through the integrated skills of all treatment team members. Services provided include 24-hour inpatient care, 23-hour observation, and an Adult Partial Hospitalization Program for psychiatric patients.The Social Worker provides social work services to patient and/or families who receive inpatient psychiatric treatment. Social Work services include psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, counseling, crisis intervention, and patient/family education. Social workers work within the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team to provide these supportive functions, and also may assist with discharge planning to facilitate the transition fromhospital treatment to continuing mental health care following inpatient treatment.Minimum Education RequiredMaster's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in social workRequired QualificationsMasters of Social Work Degree from an Accredited Graduate School of Social Work. Current State of Ohio Social Work Licensure. Previous social work experience in a similar setting preferred. |
