Film is one of the leading art forms of the 21st century. To understand the cinematic medium is to be aware of its impact as a cultural and artistic force. Film at Perimeter College examines the analysis, history, theory and critique of the film industry, allowing students to learn how art, business and technology combine to create films that express our 21st century culture.
Position Description
The Department of Fine Arts of Perimeter College invites applications for a Limited Term Instructor in Film & Media Studies for Spring 2025. This is a teaching-focused position: 100% of the workload is instruction teaching six (6) courses per semester for the department on any of our five campuses plus online teaching. Perimeter College faculty maintain a campus presence, and the successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to early undergraduate teaching and learning, and the ability to thrive in a highly diverse academic setting. The primary responsibilities of this position will include designing and delivering engaging and innovative curriculum in film history and theory, although basic film production processes and supporting students with production interests is also expected. Perimeter College is a multi-campus institution, and the teaching assignment may be on any of the college
Required Experience
Required Education
Masters degree in Film & Media studies by Jan 1, 2025.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience


  • MFA or Phd in Film and Media Studies
  • College teaching experience, including graduate teaching
  • Experience teaching online courses in Film & Media


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Ability to teach Film History and Film & Media Production at the collegiate level.

* Ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods, relate to students and facilitate student learning.

* Effective communication skills needed.

* Excellent organizational and teaching skills.

* Demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology is required.

Work Hours
Position may require non-standard hours (including day, evening, online, hybrid, weekend and/or other campus locations)
Salary $21,216 per term with Master's degree in discipline; $23,791 per term with terminal degree in discipline.
