Position Purpose |
In partnership with other Center for Program Design and Evaluation (
CPDE) team members and project stakeholders, implements planning, development, analysis, and dissemination activities related to mixed methods research and program evaluation. Develops and tests data collection instruments, collects and manages primary data, researches and interprets secondary data, conducts qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods data analyses, creates reports, and contributes to other dissemination. |

The Center for Program Design and Evaluation (
CPDE) at Dartmouth seeks an associate to join our consulting group. With over 40 ongoing projects and 12 team members,
CPDE offers a fast-paced, stimulating environment in world-renowned health services and health equity research. We deliver a wide array of evaluation and mixed methods services for faculty, researchers, clinicians, and program leaders spanning multiple disciplines and topic areas.
The associate will implement the planning, development, analysis, and dissemination of mixed methods research and program evaluation in conjunction with our program, research partners, and other
CPDE team members. They will have skills in evaluation design, qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis methods, reporting, and data visualization.
The Center for Program Design and Evaluation at Dartmouth is a service center that operates out of The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice at the Geisel School of Medicine, Dartmouth College. The Center provides in-depth mixed methods research and evaluation design, implementation, program improvement, and needs assessment to local, national, and international organizations, programs, and research grants. Their work spans the areas of public health & healthcare, infrastructure & capacity building, education & training, clinical quality improvement, implementation and translational science, and community-based programs.
CPDE conducts program design and evaluation for a wide range of initiatives, including grant and non-grant-funded programs at Dartmouth, its health partner Dartmouth-Health, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the State of NH, and several national foundations. These associations and experiences provide
CPDE with a unique perspective and context that includes a wide breadth of view, a multi-disciplinary team, and access to innovative methodology-all in an environment dedicated to making a difference.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp |
Masters plus 3-5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience |

- Experience developing and implementing surveys, interview or focus group guides, and data management plans.
- Advanced user of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with quantitative analysis methods (e.g., statistical tests) and statistical tools (SPSS, STATA, R, SAS).
- Experience with qualitative data analysis methods.
- Experience conducting literature reviews using library and Internet search engines.
- Technical writing skills needed to synthesize and disseminate evaluation results.
- Able to travel on occasion for project meetings and other activities.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Three - five years of relevant experience in program evaluation and/or mixed methods research with direct experience working with qualitative and quantitative data.
- Experience conducting interviews, focus groups, and observation for data collection.
- Experience with qualitative data analysis tools like Dedoose.
- Experience contributing to formal reports, presentations, and technical paper writing.
- Human subjects research and ethics training and certification, e.g., CITI training.
