Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains strict confidentiality while serving as the Finance liaison to HR for staff hires, equity adjustments, and position changes.
- Performs monthly reconciliation of the LUC staff salary position control reports. Identifies and resolves variances between budgeted and actual expenditures. Ensures adequate projected funding. Works with departments and HR to ensure that all salary costs are properly budgeted and controlled by position.
- Approves staff requisitions via People Admin. Ensures that each requisition has adequate funding available in the operating budget. Performs a weekly reconciliation to ensure that newly filled positions have exact funding and initiates budget adjustments to resolve funding variances as necessary.
- Reviews and processes staff payroll action forms (PAF's) as they relate to budgeting including requesting, reviewing and approving budget adjustments and updating the payroll distributions in Lawson.
- Maintains a continuous reconciliation between the staff salary planning systems and the budget planning system during the budget planning cycle to ensure that set control totals are not exceeded. Verifies the staff salary budget file prior to upload to Lawson in June.
- Performs financial analysis related to tuition, identifies trends and prepares reports to help management make informed long- and short-term funding decisions. Tracks PowerBI dashboard data against budget/forecast and analyze variances.
- Performs ad hoc forecast and budget analysis as required.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Bachelor's degree and five years experience in accounting or financial analysis. CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and five+ years experience in accounting, budgeting or financial analysis required. Master's degree preferred. Strong analytical and communication skills. Ability to conceptualize large projects and complete in a timely and organized manner. Must be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task and work well under tight deadlines. Ability to work well independently and as part of a team. Strong work ethic required.

Must be familiar with financial systems and use of supporting software programs. Proficiency with Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills.
