Job Description

The Director, Advancement Marketing & Communications allows us to run an efficient and effective creative production team for a high-demand division. As a lead project manager, this role will orchestrate a symphony of marketing initiatives, leading a talented team to ensure every campaign resonates with clarity and strategic purpose. From the buzz of social media to the elegance of print materials, you will oversee the seamless execution of projects that reflect the university's spirit and mission. Your expertise in project management will be crucial in aligning our marketing strategies with the university's broader goals, ensuring that every endeavor is well-executed and impactful.

Key duties include:

  • Supervises one FTE responsible for managing Advancement's social media accounts and up to 12 Mizzou Digital Ambassadors (part-time students) including teaching these student employees how to create/edit videos for digital use.. (35%)
  • Develop, create and move project plans into production by assigning each element in our project management platform to the correct team member, explaining projects, following up and providing feedback. (25%)
  • Works with partner teams to seek feedback and approval, navigating adjustments through the final approvals, implementation and monitoring results. (20%)
  • Manage all digital marketing platforms serving email, events, web, annual and major giving and giving day. (15%)
  • Contributes to working groups as a subject matter expert and leader, including our digital content team and the various projects/tasks assigned to that group. (5%)
Shift

Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm, with occasional evening or weekend events

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in strategic communication, journalism, or marketing or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3-5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired
  • Professional experience that includes technical expertise using tools to storyboard, create, and edit student video content
  • Demonstrated ability to write for multiple audiences across different platforms with appropriate tone and message
  • Ability to manage major projects, including selecting vendors, assigning tasks, reporting on progress and meeting deadlines
  • Adept at AP style and willingness to learn MU editorial style practices
  • Understanding of marketing, social media and strategic communication best practices
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and a consistent focus on quality
  • Ability to identify and grow beneficial cross-functional relationships
  • Willingness to provide creative solutions to address unique challenges and opportunities
  • Commitment to maintaining a collaborative, supportive and results-oriented working environment
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 Salary

Grade: GGS 11
