Who is Saint Louis University? Founded in 1818, Saint Louis University is one of the nation's oldest and most prestigious Catholic universities. SLU, which also has a campus in Madrid, Spain, is recognized for world-class academics, life-changing research, compassionate health care, and a strong commitment to faith and service. All About You Postdoctoral Scholar (Photonics, Non-Hermitian Optics) An opportunity for a postdoctoral scholar is available in Dr. Sahin K. Ozdemir's group in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Saint Louis University, for highly motivated scientists having intellectual curiosity and are ready to undertake creative research for delivering innovative photonic solutions to complex problems. Candidates with strong background in theoretical micro/nano-photonics design (e.g., wavefront shaping, beam switching, non-Hermitian photonics, miniaturization of optical components and fundamental limits) and optimization theory (e.g., linear and quadratic programming, manifold optimization, nonconvex optimization) for applications in optical design problems. The successful candidate will be joining a team of theorists and experimentalists and will primarily carry out research on fundamental limits in the design of non-Hermitian micro/nano-photonic devices and wavefront shaping. The candidate is expected to work closely with the experimentalists in the team and supervise and train graduate students. Requirements:
