Summary of Position
UNH Nursing invites applications for a Tenure Track position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor Rank. The Assistant/ Associate/ Full Professor of Nursing is a full-time faculty position that reports to the Department Chair of Nursing, in the College of Health and Human Services.
We are seeking applicants with research interests including but not limited to; epidemiology/ population health, dissemination and implementation science, aging, substance use, health promotion and disease prevention with vulnerable populations, and mHealth, VR/AR, and other technologies.
Responsibilities include teaching, research, and service. Teaching includes undergraduate and/or graduate courses on campus and online. A beginning or active research agenda consistent with requested rank is required and supported. Faculty participate in service activities related to the Nursing, college, university, professional organizations, and community.

UNH Nursing currently offers programs at the baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral levels. All UNH nursing programs are nationally accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates must hold an earned doctorate degree (Ph.D. in nursing or another health-related field [i.e., aging/gerontology, community health, public health, psychology, sociology or other related field]).
  • For early-career faculty, evidence of an emerging program of research and scholarship through peer-reviewed, high-quality publications, and potential for securing extramurally funded research.
  • For senior faculty, an established program of research as evidenced by extramurally funded research and peer-reviewed, high-quality publications/dissemination activities.
  • Demonstrated competence in teachingPreference for applicants with experience in geriatrics, community/public health, health policy, or technology integration.
  • Candidates with a nursing degree must be eligible for a New Hampshire nursing license.

  • Experience in working with college-age and non-traditional students.
  • Program of research aligned with the National Institutes of Nursing Research's strategic goals or other National Institutes of Health program.
  • Skill in working with culturally diverse constituencies in the academic environment.
  • Ability to cultivate external relations with community leaders, institutions, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting excellence in achieving ethnic, gender, and cultural diversity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with faculty, staff, and students as well as community groups of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations.
  • For early-career faculty,

    • postdoctoral training,
    • a program of research that can be supported by a mentor in the College of Health and Human Services.



  • For senior faculty,

    • A strong and sustained record of extramurally funded research, publication, dissemination, and collaboration.
    • Experience as an effective teacher in the classroom or field sites.
    • Experience as a research mentor to undergraduate and graduate students.
    • Service as a mentor to and/or collaborator with peer and junior faculty.
    • Professional leadership within local, regional, national, and international groups.
