Rockland Trust is currently seeking a Commercial Documentation Specialist to assist with the day-to-day functions of the Commercial Documentation Group. Commercial Credit Operations functions include:
- Facilitating commercial loan closings by coordinating commercial lending staff, compliance department, real estate appraisal and environmental department, outside counsel and loan operations,
- Ensuring that all commercial loans are properly approved, documented, closed and funded in accordance with applicable credit approvals, commercial lending policy, federal compliance regulations and sound legal standards and practices,
- Providing guidance to Commercial Loan Assistants, Lenders, Portfolio Managers, and Loan Operations personnel on appropriate and customary documentation for a variety of commercial loan transactions,
- Preparing internally prepared commercial loan documentation.
Commercial Documentation Specialists Responsibilities Include:
- Review and analysis of various documentation for basic commercial transactions to independently ensure compliance with loan approvals, commercial lending policy, Bank documentation standards and sound legal standards and practices, including:
- Credit approval documentation, including Senior Loan Approval Committee approvals,
- Commercial loan documentation (pre-funding),
- Due diligence items, including: insurance binders, appraisals, credit analysis and pre-closing requirements,
- Compliance matters, including flood zone determination
- Complete closing packages (post-closing) which includes all legal documentation, title insurance policies, opinion letters, organizational documents, consents etc.
- Liaise daily with Loan Operations personnel to provide approved funding information for loan funding and proper booking,
- Liaise daily with Lending teams (Lenders, Portfolio Managers and CLS associates) regarding general documentation inquiries, loan funding and documentation deficiencies
- QC of internally prepared loan documentation
- Basic, supervised drafting of internally prepared modifications.
Required Skills & Experience:
- College Degree with 2+ years preparing commercial loan documentation in a financial institution or law firm - or - Minimum 5+ years preparing commercial loan documentation in a financial institution or law firm
- Basic understanding of commercial loan transactions, including real estate loans, construction loans and asset based loans,
- General knowledge of commercial legal documentation, entity organizational documents, collateral perfection techniques and guidelines
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently and in a group to meet both individual and team deadlines,
- Ability to multi-task and use independent judgment to prioritize urgent loan requests,
- Strong time management skills,
- Detail oriented and highly organized, with strong organizational and reasoning skills,
- Strong communication skills (oral and written),
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- PC skills including Word, Excel and Power Point are a must
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
- May be required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
