Summary:

In this role, you will engage in multifaceted activities focused on improving engineering practices, developing people, and managing staffing. You will strategically ensure teams utilize best practices and technologies, allocate resources efficiently, and align staff assignments with both project needs and individual career goals. You will recruit top talent, foster a collaborative culture, and provide impactful performance feedback. You will stay current on industry trends, guide teams on strategic tool selection, and promote continuous improvement within the engineering department.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, hire, and onboard top talent, ensuring a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative workforce.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies, industry trends, and evolving best practices to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Support the development and implementation of training and career development programs that support the continuous growth of direct reports and align with business needs.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration where engineers can make meaningful contributions and feel valued.
  • Advocate for best-in-class engineering practices, including code quality standards, automated testing, CI/CD processes, and DevOps principles, to ensure efficient, high-quality software delivery
  • Establish and assess key metrics to monitor the quality of engineering practices and ensure high operational performance.
  • Support the design and implementation of personalized development plans for direct reports for their professional growth.
  • Develop and communicate a strategic vision for engineering excellence that aligns with the company's mission and future goals.
  • Encourage mentoring, coaching, and knowledge transfer to develop future leaders within the organization.
  • Help engineers develop a strategic mindset that enables them to design and deliver scalable and impactful solutions aligned with long-term business objectives.
  • Model company values by promoting respect, integrity, innovation, and continuous learning.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree preferred in Computer Science/Engineering or related field.
  • 7 or more years of relevant experience required.
  • Experience building and leading high-performing engineering teams required.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives that involve collaborating with Product, Architecture, and Operations teams to align engineering efforts with business goals.
  • Strong technical background with expertise in modern development frameworks, cloud technologies, and software architecture.
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML), Data Engineering, or experience managing data-heavy applications a plus.
  • Experience in leading data engineering teams with a strong track record of designing and delivering large-scale data pipelines, ETL process, analytics platforms, scalable data pipelines, and re-time streaming solutions a plus.
  • Must be a dynamic, hands-on, collaborative, and challenging people leader.
  • You must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Estimated Hiring Range:

At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $135,200.00 to $223,200.00.
