New Product Development Engineer Co-op - Spring 2025

WORK LOCATION: Billerica, MA

Our site in Billerica is seeking a/an New Product Dev Eng Co-op to join our team for the Spring 2025 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration from January to June 2025

Core Purpose:
New Product Development Engineering co-op focused on bringing new products to market. The position primarily involves product and equipment design, intellectual property investigation, prototyping, as well as hands-on process development. Co-ops will gain valuable experience in plastic product design and automated manufacturing practices.

In this role, you will:

Expected Outcomes:
* Conducting research and assembling design proposals, providing accurate timelines for project tasks, and clearly presenting project details
* Ideate, model, prototype, develop, conduct peer reviews and introduce new products and processing technologies
* Perform automation equipment design and development
* Fixture and component design and implementation using 3D modeling and drawing techniques
* Collaborate with team members to review concepts, prototypes, designs, drawings, and technical specifications
* Part failure analysis with emphasis on identifying root cause and suggestions for improvement
* Critical thinking and problem solving, constantly striving to improve the product development process
* Adapting to project scope changes, analyzing and resolving problems and making quick, responsible decisions with limited information

You're a good fit if you have:

* Creative, detail-oriented, able to solve complex problems using methodical approach and rational thinking
* Proficiency using SolidWorks (3D modeling and drawing)
* Manual dexterity, basic knowledge of tools and how to use them
* Willingness to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced working environment
* Strong communication skills, ability to convey information both verbally and in writing
* Process design and optimization utilizing Design of Experiments is a plus
* Machine shop experience, FEA knowledge, and programming experience are a bonus

* Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
