The Office of Information Technology (
OIT) is Rutgers' enterprise IT office.
OIT provides university wide services and support and collaborates with department and unit IT professionals on projects and initiatives for the Rutgers community. OIT's services and systems include the Rutgers network; email and calendaring systems; IDs/passwords and identity management; data centers; computer labs; help desk support; wireless connectivity; a software portal; information security, risk, and compliance services; research computing; and many others. Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Telecommunications Analyst
III for the Office of Information Technology. The position will use the implementation playbook framework developed by the Enterprise Infrastructure Platform Services Architecture and Delivery (EI-PS-AD) team. When changes to the playbook are identified, this position will communicate and provide updates and revisions to the playbook to the EI-PS-AD team.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Implements day-to-day load balancing and DNS changes.
- Interfaces with EI customers throughout the University to educate and deploy load balancing and data center networking solutions in collaboration with the Platform Architect and Delivery team.
- Deploys physical and logical data center cabling and routing modifications.
- Reviews monitoring and logging alert events.
- Troubleshoots first-level data center support.
- Collaborates with the rest of the Platform Security Operation team and the Platform Architect and Delivery team.
- Reviews and recommends operational efficiencies.
- Utilizes the Rutgers Service Now ticketing system and change control processes to manage and implement changes.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Five (5) years of load balancing and/or networking experience.
- Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Must have extensive experience working in a technical setting and a strong understanding of workflow, policies, and procedures.
- Demonstrate proficiency in load balancing hardware, software, load balancing analysis. Proficient in layer 2 and layer 3 WAN and LAN topology, with knowledge in IP network analysis, BGP, data packet inspection and TCP and IP flow in networks and application flows.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems of high technical complexity.
- Strong familiarity with network/information security systems theory and design.
- A broad understanding of network connectivity, security architecture and policy development in large, complex environments.
- Demonstrated levels of responsibility in positions with implementation requirements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to develop quality technical documentation.
- Ability to communicate and promote ideas and transfer detailed technical knowledge to others.

Preferred Qualifications |
- F5 or A10 load balancing experience.
- Experience working in an enterprise data center network. Certifications: Cisco (CCNA, CCNP) Juniper(JNCIA-DC, JNCIS-DC) F5 (F5-CTS, F5-CSE) or A10 (ACA, ACP)
