Description

Salary range is $80k to $175k, with a midpoint of $125k. New hires typically receive between minimum and midpoint, however, we may go slightly higher based on experience, internal equity and market.

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Senior Solutions Engineer is responsible for determining requirements, designing, developing, debugging, testing, and implementing technical solutions using existing and emerging technologies, particularly on, but not limited to, the agency's Microsoft/Office 365 platform applications such as Power Apps, Power Automate/Flow, Power BI, Teams, SharePoint Online and other productivity, collaboration, and document management applications as needed.

This role collaborates with end users and cross departmental IT and business teams to build and implement new systems to solve business problems and help focus and align IT services and business needs. This is a hands-on technical role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Implements and configures functional Office 365 Platform solutions based on business objectives and requirements.
  • Develops workflow and process automation solutions on Office 365 Platform Services as necessary.
  • Integrates Office 365 with other systems using a variety of integration technologies and techniques.
  • Participates as team resource on projects to collaborate with users and IT resources to identify and develop functional and process requirements, and review and advise on solution recommendations.
  • Coordinates with software vendors to understand optimum platform and software configurations and usage, to achieve application functional and process requirements based on vendor recommendations and best practices.
  • Facilitates the translation of business objectives and requirements into functional solutions using Agile and Waterfall methodologies as appropriate
  • Prepares and document requirements, solution diagrams, flowcharts, layouts and test plans
  • Analyzes, defines, estimates, and documents work Level of Effort.
  • Designs, develops, tests, debugs, and implements technical solutions based on existing and emerging technologies
  • Communicates concisely and effectively to address questions while providing subject matter expertise.
  • Responses to critical or changing priorities.
  • Explains complex technical solutions to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Connects technological solutions with user and agency needs.
  • Develops innovative technical approaches as complete solutions to business problems.
  • Provides support of implemented solutions; oversees account management, account creation, changes and deletion; performs application & technical process support, error support (troubleshooting), and enhancement support; and performs maintenance and system security as required/needed.
  • Participates in preventative maintenance weekends and after-hours maintenances (as needed) to ensure patches and critical updates are applied to the infrastructure servers; documents work performed and maintains accurate change management records; updates system documentation and process documentation as needed.
  • Drives problem investigations and resolution as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Management / Administration or closely related field and five years of information technology experience that includes hands-on Microsoft Power Platform application development, and platform architecture and administration; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Licenses or Certifications:



  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals.
  • Microsoft Certified: Power Platform App Maker Associate.
  • Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Developer Associate.
  • Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Solution Architect Expert.
  • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate.
  • ITIL v3 or v4 Certification.


Required Knowledge and Skills:



  • Office 365 Power Application and Power Automate, platform, client/app and browser user interface solution configuration and application development.
  • Office 365 Power Platform administration, architecture and operational support practices and processes.
  • In-depth understanding and experience implementing Power Platform application features, configurations, integrations as well as boundaries and constraints.
  • Office 365 Power BI report and dashboard development in support of the Power Applications.
  • Supporting and leading development team processes, standards, and best practices.
  • Leader in our Citizen Development Learning communities through governance, standards and engagement in learning/sharing.
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum practices.
  • Scripting Languages: JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Active Directory Object Administration and Management.
  • Experience developing and troubleshooting of Office 365 PowerShell scripting.
  • A working knowledge of a broad set of content & collaboration technologies including, MS Office 365 tenant solutions including but not limited to Exchange, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business and Microsoft Retention, eDiscovery and Information Protection Services.
  • Systems integrations, such as web services, API's, SOAP, Add-Ins, etc.
  • Business process design.
  • System integration techniques and programming.
  • Information Security and Compliance.
  • ITIL and Change Management principles.
  • UI and UX principles.
  • Databases, including SQL and schemas.
  • Business Intelligence and data management best practices.
  • Knowledge of IT applications, processes, software, and equipment.
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office products, such as Project, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio.
  • Exceptional listening, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
  • Establishing and maintaining working relationships with other staff, management, vendors and outside entities.
  • Requirements elicitation.
  • Efficient process definition and implementation.


Preferred Knowledge and Skills:



  • Other third-party tools for eSignature, workflows and forms, such as Adobe, QuickBase, and AgilePoint.
  • ServiceNow for managing incidents, requests, and change management.
  • SQL authoring and data modeling.


Physical Demands / Work Environment:



  • Work is performed in a standard hybrid office environment.
  • Position is responsible for working within custom applications that require vision without the assistance of a screen reader.
  • Position is responsible for occasional on-call shifts.
