Role

Executes daily routing plans, problem solves daily routes, ensuring timely and efficient pickups. Responsible for effective communications with customer service, transportation personnel, management and customers.

Essential Responsibilities



  • Assigns drivers and collectors to routes and special pickups for complete and timely services. Arranges alternate coverage of service in case of employee absence or equipment failure. Schedules vacations.
  • Troubleshoot tablet issues with Drivers.
  • Conduct end of day Driver Check In/Out procedures. This includes weigh tag review, weigh tag edits, one-off charge confirmation, weigh tag and route submission.
  • Acts as a conduit to gather and distribute information to drivers (via 2-way radio, telephone and service tickets) from Customer Service, Maintenance, and manages the communications to ensure completion of tasks.
  • Routes drivers for efficient operations.
  • Receives customer requests and schedules service.
  • May respond to customer questions and complaints about service including discussing issues with drivers in order to understand the situation.
  • Complete Dispatch Log daily.
  • Records schedules and hours worked by employees and completes payroll records on a daily basis. Proofs daily payroll with various reports and roster.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:



  • Two years' experience as a dispatcher or related position.
  • Technical and professional principles, practices, laws, applications and programs in position related area.
  • Current developments and trends in areas of expertise.
  • Computer programs, including Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
