* Provide administration oversight and supervision of the Social Justice and Equity Center.
* Hire, evaluate and supervise all
SJEC staff.
* Manages the departmental budget.
* Engage the college-wide community to address equity gaps in enrollment, retention, and completion.
* Help to shape the college's strategic plan to ensure that each office and employee understands their role in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
* Coordinate with the key stakeholders across the college to plan regular trainings and events for students, faculty and staff related to
DEIB matters.
* Develops and implements college-wide training to promote cultural understanding and competency and a climate of equity and inclusion. Training may include online tools, Diversity Training, and ad-hoc presentations.
* Collaborates with College leadership to create, implement and monitor programs designed to ensure fair and equitable treatment of students, faculty, and staff.
* Provides leadership for campus -wide Diversity Council and Multicultural event programming.
* Promotes College commitment to a climate of equity and inclusion through interaction with individuals and agencies inside and outside the college including the executive staff, supervisory staff, employees, students, public, community leaders from all ethno-cultural groups, civic and grass-root organizations, and Federal, State and local government enforcing authorities.
* Represents the college in regional and local associations, civic clubs, ethnic and non-profit organizations' Boards.
* Responsible for making data-driven recommendations directly to the Provost and members of the president's team.
* Works collaboratively with the office of Planning, Research, and Organizational Development to research and analyze data to assess institutional climate.
* Coordinates
DEIB data research and analysis and presents to councils and committees in relation to the College's strategic plan.
* Serve as a resource among all college constituencies to assist in advancing the diversity and social justice mission of the college.
* Conducts needs assessments, focus groups and holds other forums to engage stakeholders around trends and institutional needs.
* Partner with the
HCC Educational Foundation to write for grants to promote equity on campus.
* Develop partnerships with the Howard County community and organizations to foster equity on campus and in the community.
* Represents
HCC in regional and state meetings about diversity, equity, and inclusions.
* Participates in local, state, and national professional organizations.
* Participate in
HCC policy review, implementation, and college-wide education.
* Performs other duties as assigned. |
