Pay is depending on experience. Minimum is $101,737.49 annually, $3,912.99 bi-weekly

Position Summary

The Financial Crimes Risk & Compliance Specialist is responsible for assisting with deposit compliance risk management and oversight of fraud and anti-money laundering risk management. Assists with oversight of the bank's deposit compliance and fraud risk management programs, implements and maintains strategy, design, and procedures to ensure adherence to Deposit Compliance and Anti-Money Laundering Policies.

The following duties are intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities and ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Oversee the bank's compliance and fraud framework for all deposit regulations as well as the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), OFAC, and Anti-Money Laundering (AML).
  2. Develop and execute compliance and fraud risk management strategies. Oversee bank-wide fraud metrics and reporting.
  3. Assess the effectiveness of systems, processes and tools used to monitor fraud risks and identify opportunities for improvement.
  4. Enhance suspicious activity monitoring, including data collection, monitoring, research, analysis, and compilation of evidence to effectively support BSA / AML objectives.
  5. Collaborate with other departments on new products and service development and existing product and service review. Ensure that all products, media, and brochures are in compliance and have appropriate levels of fraud detection and mitigation.
  6. Maintain current knowledge of financial crimes compliance issues and changes, advise management, and make necessary changes to policies or procedures as appropriate.
  7. Work with various departments to investigate and report on, as necessary, high-priority and complex fraud and AML/CFT cases. Timely filing of suspicious activity reports as needed.
  8. Assist with BSA and Compliance Exams and audits to include preparation for, on-site interaction with examiners and auditors and response to findings.
  9. Complete online, written and in-person compliance training within established timeframes.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include scheduling hours, interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; conduct performance evaluation; working with HR to address work related issues.
  • Ensure employees complete compliance training within established timeframes; understand and implement compliance requirements applicable to their positions.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Specialized training in a related field may be substituted.

Experience

  • Ten years of banking experience to include:
    1. Eight years of compliance experience.
    2. Two years in researching or investigating fraud, security, banking/financial operations, or law enforcement.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience that fulfill the requirements of the position may be considered.
  • Related military education/experience may be used as a substitute for education or work experience.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) or Certified Compliance Manager (CCM), or Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) preferred.

Knowledge & Communication Skills

  • Exceptional communicator with the talent to easily identify issues, problems or concerns and mentor staff to self-discover resolutions and solutions. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with examiners, directors, management, staff, and members of the community.
  • Thorough knowledge of BSA, OFAC, AML, Regulation D, E, J, CC, DD, and GG, FDIC Deposit Insurance Coverage, ESIGN, Right to Financial Privacy and Privacy of Consumer Financial Information (Regulation P).
  • Understand bank products & services, associated regulations and how changes to one will impact the other.
  • Able to perform intermediate math calculations to include calculating ratios, averages, percentage increases and decreases, as well as Annual Percentage Yield.
  • Must understand and have the ability to implement applicable compliance requirements.

Analytical & Decision Making Skills

  • Highly complex analytical ability required to resolve not only external customer issues, but to provide resolution to branch, bank staff, customers, auditors and regulators on complex situations.
  • High level of analytical skill to research and analyze complex regulations. Must be able to understand how regulations are effectively implemented within the Bank's operations.
  • Strong statistical/data analysis skills. Ability to evaluate and interpret complex data sets.

Computer/Software/Other Equipment Skills

  • Expert knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to operate standard office equipment such as PC, printer, fax/copier, and telephone.
  • Internet use and research skills are required daily.

Working Conditions

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Work is performed in a professional office environment.
