What you'll be doing...

As a Distinguished Facility Engineer for the Public Sector Federal Aviation Administration Enterprise Network Engineering Services (FENS) engineering team, you will be a facility and test engineer on a multi-discipline team that will deliver and manage the technology roadmap for the FAA infrastructure architecture and Verizon OSS management infrastructure based on Verizon's solutions and services.

As a Distinguished Facility Engineer you will have the responsibility to ensure that the Verizon FENS solution meets the FAA Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RMA) requirements. You will work in a cross-functional and cross-organizational environment (including Third party partners) to facilitate and deliver the FENS initial and on-going infrastructure solutions for the FAA complex requirements throughout the life-cycle of the FENS program.

You will be focused on the survivability and resiliency integrated architectures for the FAA FENS opportunity. The goal will be to deliver the best technical solutions along with the best customer service. You will need to:

  • Manage execution of activities in a creative and entrepreneurial approach focused on customer and business value.
  • Lead Test & Evaluation teams through phases of test and evaluation and customer requirements verification.
  • Develop compliant documentation including Contractor Master Test Plan (CMTP), site/service test plans, test procedures, and test reports.
  • Specify, design, and accredit specific scenarios that create realistic, operational conditions for formal testing.
  • Develop custom processes and tailors existing processes, as needed, to support cross-functional planning, scheduling, and executing across all system test activities.
  • Work collaboratively with the FENS Test Director ensuring all designs and solutions are tested in the lab
  • Provide designs, solution deployment, and user documentation for facility engineering standards
  • Develop technology solutions that meet all FENS requirements including Security constraints, manageability, reporting and ongoing support/maintenance.
  • Lead architecture standards of facility designs including cabling standards, power standards, UPS and PDU standards, physical security, and equipment enclosures to fit the unique customer requirements.
  • Work with various vendors to create custom designs to meet customer requirements.

What we're looking for...

You're a Facility and Test specialist with experience prioritizing multiple large projects at once. You know how to lead a project team, creating clarity, removing barriers, and motivating team members to do more than they thought possible. Multi-functional work is ideal for you, given your collaborative nature and ability to work with a variety of partners across the organization. And you're passionate about the chance to work with some of the best technological minds in the business.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree with 8 or more years of work experience, or 12 years of related work experience.
  • Designing or architecting survivable and resilient mission critical facility infrastructure.
  • 10 years or more experience in documenting technical designs including rack elevation, dimensions, power, cooling, and floor configurations.
  • Experience with power and grounding calculations and installation techniques.
  • Experience with Field Logistics and constraints, equipment installation/turnup, Cable Types, and cable installation techniques.
  • Experience doing Workflow analysis and documentation of site standards
  • Experience working with staff, subcontractors, and equipment manufacturers to fulfill contract deliverables that meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • Experience developing white papers describing the solutions designed and the benefits of the solution
  • Knowledge of technical product and systems development lifecycle within a large global enterprise environment.
  • Experience in two or more technical areas listed:
    • Data and IP Services (MPLS, SIP, internet, VPN, SDN, NFV, SDWAN).
    • Access Technologies (TDM, Ethernet).
    • Network Operations (Managed Services for WLAN, LAN, WAN, IP PBX, Automation/Orchestration).
    • Wide area networking, routing protocols, and VPN design.
  • Ability to obtain a Government security clearance of Public Trust.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master's Degree in a technical or business area.
  • CCNA or CCNP certification.
  • Five or more years of successful experience with strategic solutions and/or systems integration design and solutions selling experience (consultative solutions selling).
  • Eight or more years of direct work experience in a system test environment.
  • Understanding of Data Networking, L2/L3 technology, Wireless Technology, Voice Technology
  • Experience with federal government safety-critical infrastructure rated systems.
  • Experience within the FAA
