The ability to schedule for multi-providers, multi-departments, and/or multiple days in a scheduling pass. Verifies physician orders for accuracy and compliance. * Accurately schedules procedure for appropriate provider by department guidelines/policies. Accurately documents and verifies referral information in EPIC to ensure financial reimbursement for services rendered. Is knowledgeable in the pre-procedure preparation requirements and communicates instructions accurately to physician office and/or patient. Moderate order intake knowledge; The ability to transcribe moderate orders & verify physician order for accuracy and compliance prior to transcription of order. Address any order discrepancies by coordinating communication between provider's office and Salem Health clinical staff; Determine if authorization is required, contacting appropriate individuals or insurance company.Accurately document steps taken to provide Team members the information they need to follow up; Determines appropriate course of action and resolves discrepancies with provider and clinicians. Participates in moderate Kaizen processes; Q & E, create Standard Work and lead 4SPS within department; Complete their Kaizen requirements independently.Moderate insurance verification for registration purposes; Accurately register patients as well as identify payer authorization requirement. Verifies Insurance eligibility and Understands/Operationalizes the various aspects of insurance benefits for multiple insurance types as it relates to scheduling of services, including, but not limited to, Oregon Health Plan/Medicaid. Uses all appropriate systems (such as HDX within Epic) to determine eligibility when current ID card is not available; Completes Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire (MSPQ).Review of accounts falling within the work queues to ensure the insurance information contains accurate policy ID numbers, Group Name and Numbers, Subscriber information, Authorization numbers, as well as correct payer coordination of benefits prior to date of service. Obtain missing insurance information, to include policy number, group number, date of birth, and insurance phone number if not already identified in account.Obtain/confirm and enter demographic and other financial information, not obtained during pre-registration/financial clearance process, necessary for account completion; Uses online insurance tools to obtain and/or verify authorization.Effectively communicates insurance information (I.e.; plan limitations, authorization requirements and ABNs) to patients and physician offices; Mentors team members by being available as a resource and/or preceptor. Collects identified patient financial obligation amounts including residual balance during patient check in; Accurately screens self-pay patients for any possible funding solutions; Assists patients with financial assistance when appropriate by printing out the necessary documents. A moderate understanding of insurance authorization and financial processing accounts; Previous EPIC experience preferred.Keyboarding at 45 wpm; Intermediate understanding of Medical Terminology and billing codes (ICD-10, CPT) preferred.Excellent interpersonal communication skills which convey a positive and supportive intent; Exceptional customer service skills projecting a friendly and professional image.Ability to work independently, self-directed and work with individuals with diverse background; Must be capable of working under pressure with continuous telephone calls and constant interruptions.Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.Commitment to maintain confidentiality of all information related to patients, medical staff, and employees and as appropriate other information.Demonstrates the principles of teamwork, and models a positive attitude, and the skills to engage in conversations that promotes problem solving and a positive exchange of individual ideas.Ability to manage conflict and appropriately request help of a Lead or Supervisor when needed; Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and concerns while working in a busy, multidisciplinary setting producing quality work with maximum productivity.Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.Basic understanding with contractual nature of HMO and/or PPO insurance plans, Medicare and Medicaid, commercial, workers compensation and other third party payers preferred.Salem Health Hospitals and Clinics is an equal opportunity employer.
