Job Description

The Coder- Reimbursement communicates to department leaders and charge master liaisons the billing regulations, and policies concerning charge master maintenance. This position distributes Medicare bulletins to department leaders and others and assists in carrying out new regulations. This position performs charge audits. This position reviews existing charge master for all facilities in a methodical manner for appropriate standardization. This potion assists department leaders as needed in charge master revision.

Responsibilities

  • Receives charge master change requests, and processes them in a timely manner, researching Medicare regulations as needed for compliance. Works with Managed Care Department to facilitate claims being processed when special requirements are needed for clean claims.
  • Participates in annual CPT code evaluation of the charge master as new codes are instituted, making changes as needed to accommodate additions and deletions
  • Reviews existing charge master for all facilities in a methodical manner for appropriate standardization.
  • Assists department managers as needed in charge master revision.
  • Reviews pricing of procedures, and of supplies according to the mark-up formula of each Baptist Institution.
  • Works with managed care department to facilitate claims being processed when special requirements are needed for clean claims.
  • Interprets coding and documentation as it pertains to audit function.


Qualifications

Minimum Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required

Minimum Work Experience

  • 2 years experience in hospital/medical billing, coding, auditing Required

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret ad communicate CPT descriptions, Medicare regulations, etc., and apply these to charge master requests.
  • Computer skills to manage charge master changes and generate reports as needed.
  • Precise attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret coding and documentation as it pertains to audit function.
