Job Description:

The Maintenance Engineer Trainee will develop operation practices and obtain the knowledge and skill set to become a Maintenance Engineer by the end of the three (3) year training program. When properly licensed this position will help maintain a safe and effective environment through maintenance, repair, and operation of all mechanical, pneumatic and ventilating equipment.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Works with experienced staff to gain the knowledge needed to complete the training program.
  • Assist the Maintenance Engineer with providing maintenance and repairs to building structures, building systems, and equipment contained therein.
    • Assist with servicing, repairing, and maintaining refrigeration and HVAC system.
    • Assist with servicing, repairing and installing piping, fixtures, fittings and associated hardware for compressed gasses, vacuum, steam, potable and non-potable plumbing systems.
    • May assist with electrical replacements, repairs and maintenance of electrical equipment.
    • May assist with emergency repairs on critical life safety and none-life safety equipment which could include patient beds, surgical gurneys, utilities disruption, nurse call, TVs and electronics.
  • Assist experienced staff with preventative and corrective maintenance.
    • May help with performing interior preventative maintenance which could include painting, electrical, plumbing, light carpentry and HVAC related needs.
    • May help perform exterior preventative maintenance which could include roof checks, grounds checks and snow removal.
    • May assist with inspecting, cleaning and changing air filters, including electronic filters.
    • May help with the assembly of office furniture, desk, file hangers and chairs.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean and organized storage area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Vocational or Technical Training with Two compulsory courses and one elective each of the 3 years

Licenses/Certifications

  • Valid Driver's License required upon hire - MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver's license in their state of residence within 60 days of employment
  • Licensed Operating/Engineer required
