Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, Cancer Chemical Biology
Overview Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington. With a track record of global leadership in bone marrow transplantation, HIV/AIDS prevention, immunotherapy and COVID-19 vaccines, Fred Hutch has earned a reputation as one of the world's leading cancer, infectious disease and biomedical research centers. Fred Hutch operates eight clinical care sites that provide medical oncology, infusion, radiation, proton therapy and related services, and network affiliations with hospitals in five states. Together, our fully integrated research and clinical care teams seek to discover new cures to the world's deadliest diseases and make life beyond cancer a reality. At Fred Hutch we value collaboration, compassion, determination, excellence, innovation, integrity and respect. These values are grounded in and expressed through the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion. Our mission is directly tied to the humanity, dignity and inherent value of each employee, patient, community member and supporter. Our commitment to learning across our differences and similarities make us stronger. We seek employees who bring different and innovative ways of seeing the world and solving problems. Fred Hutch is in pursuit of becoming an anti-racist organization. We are committed to ensuring that all candidates hired share our commitment to diversity, anti-racism and inclusion. The Nabet laboratory is recruiting a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to carry out research in the fields of targeted protein degradation and proximity-induced therapeutics. The goals of our research program are to develop strategies to target cancer drivers by controlling protein homeostasis to gain new biological insights into clinically relevant targets and toadvance new therapeutic strategies in cancer. The Nabet laboratory develops and deploys innovative chemical biology technologies such as the dTAG system to rapidly eliminate target proteins for therapeutic target discovery and validation (Nabet et al., Nature Chemical Biology 2018; Nabet et al., Nature Communications 2020). The Nabet laboratory is highly collaborative and works extensively with medicinal chemists to develop inhibitors and degraders for cancer drug targets (Koide et al., ChemBioChem 2023; Li et al., European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry 2022). We are committed to supporting the next-generation of scientists and believe in collaborative science (Nabet, ChemBioChem 2021). This is an exceptional opportunity to join a new team that is pushing the boundaries of cancer chemical biology. Responsibilities We are seeking candidates that will drive rigorous scientific projects utilizing state-of-the-art targeted degradation approaches including the dTAG system, chemical probes, genome-wide CRISPR knockout screens, induced proximity screens, molecular biology, biochemistry, next-generation sequencing, and in vivo murine modeling, with the goal of understanding the mechanisms of oncogenes in cancer and developing new therapeutic approaches. The position will require both independent research as well as the ability to collaborate closely with medicinal chemists, computational biologists, and other colleagues. Fellowship opportunities are available through several philanthropic and government organizations and recruits who join the lab will be supported in their applications. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A recent PhD, and/or MD and a track record of independent productive research.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Application instructions: Please apply by submitting a CV and a brief description of past research experiences and future goals (not more than 1-2 pages). A statement describing your commitment and contributions toward greater diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism in your career or that will be made through your work at Fred Hutch is requested of all finalists. The annual base salary range for this position is from $67,728 to $150,000 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. This position may be eligible for relocation assistance. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security. Benefits include medical/vision, dental, flexible spending accounts, life, disability, retirement, family life support, employee assistance program, onsite health clinic, income-based child care subsidy, tuition reimbursement, paid vacation (22 days per year), paid sick leave (up to 30 calendar days per occurrence of a qualifying reason), paid holidays (13 days per year), and paid parental leave (up to 4 weeks). Our Commitment to Diversity We are proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) Employer. We are committed to cultivating a workplace in which diverse perspectives and experiences are welcomed and respected.
