Senior Scientist III - Structural Biologist

Culmen International is seeking a Senior Scientist III - Structural Biologist to join our team in Silver Springs, Maryland.

The Senior Scientist III - Structural Biologist shall have expertise in protein chemistry, protein expression and purification, enzymology, animal models, structural biology, x-ray crystallography, biophysical techniques, and small molecule therapeutic discovery and development.

Performing a variety of laboratory procedures and works as part of a scientific team to advance the understanding of biological questions to contribute to the advancement of product development
• Familiar with the concepts, practices, and procedures in fields such as biochemistry, molecular modeling, molecular biology, enzymology, in-silico screening, antibacterial discovery and development, structural biology, x-ray crystallography, immunology, bioinformatics, and pathogen discovery
• Actively pursues the scientific objectives of the WID and contributes significantly to the planning of future studies
• Leads the analysis of collected data; writes proposals and manuscripts; solicits grants (e.g., track record of funded grant proposals); establishes collaborations with other entities (e.g., universities); presents data at meetings; and supervises the activities of personnel under their guidance
• Must be self-motivated and capable of working independently
• The senior scientist III is granted a wide degree of creativity and latitude and typically reports to a unit or department head

• Ph.D.
• 10 years of experience in a designated field (e.g., protein chemistry, protein expression and purification, enzymology, animal models, structural biology, x-ray crystallography, biophysical techniques, small molecule therapeutic discovery and development).
