Georgia-Pacific's Building Products Division, Lumber Sawmill at GP-Pineland, Texas is seeking to add a well-qualified (on-site) Systems Engineerto work on our team to design, deploy, and optimize high value initiatives at our GP-Pineland Sawmill facility. This role will not only work to transform our business, but also build relationships with site personnel to enable and support the sustainability of the systems deployed. This site is a 24/7-day operation with approximately 330 employees. We are located 25 miles north of Jasper, Texas. Pineland is east of Lufkin TX (35,000 population), home of Angelina College, and southeast of Nacogdoches, TX (32,000 population) and home of Stephen F. Austin State University. What You Will Do * Develop deep learning/machine vision models for automation applications. * Review and optimize existing deep learning/machine vision models based on end user and division capability feedback. * Develop and modify PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), Robots, HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), and computer vision programs to achieve project requirements. * Trial new technologies to solve complex automation problems. * Train personnel on the proper method and process for performing preventive or corrective maintenance on automation systems and components, monitor automation health at assigned sites via diagnostics and analysis, and coordinate with site representatives to address any changes to automation system health. * Provide technical expertise in process automation and transfer that knowledge to others (site and division capabilities). * Create and maintain documentation related to automation systems, including specifications, manuals, and standard operating procedures. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) * Two (2) or more years of hands-on engineering experience within a manufacturing operation or commensurate industry experience. * Ability to effectively work and communicate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and facility resources in Automation and Digital Process Optimization, Electrical and Process Controls Capabilities, Maintenance and Operations, and various other capabilities. * Strong organization skills, problem solving, sense of urgency, customer focus, and team building. * Advanced understanding of automation components (PLCs, PLC Programming, motor drives, etc.) and how they work together for system automation. * Experience working with machine vision cameras and profilers in manufacturing facilities. What Will Put You Ahead * Five (5) or more years of hands-on engineering and process experience within a lumber/sawmill facility * Four (4) year degree in systems or process engineering * Deep Learning/Machine Vision experience. * Cognex ((Cognex Insight, Keyence (XGX)) and Keyence (XGX 2d, 3d) * Control Logix and 755 VFD's * Experience with Python programming At Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs.
