Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required.
  • Associatersquo;s degree Preferred.

AND

Experience:

  • Prior retail experience highly recommended.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):

  • Ability to engage with customers, identify their needs, and provide solutions in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Proficiency in using POS systems, cash registers, and other computer systems or software relevant to sales and inventory management.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move items for extended periods, especially during busy store hours.
  • Basic knowledge of stock levels, product replenishment, and inventory tracking systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a college campus environment, including assisting customers, processing transactions, and maintaining store appearance.

Job Summary

The Sales Clerk is responsible for maintaining the clothing and gift departments within the store, including but not limited to sweatshirts, t-shirts, drinkware, and imprinted gift items. This role involves providing exceptional customer service to students, faculty, and staff, ensuring their needs are met with attention and care. The Sales Clerk will assist with web order fulfillment, including processing and shipping orders. Additionally, this position is responsible for organizing and maintaining inventory in the stockroom to ensure efficient operations.

Essential Functions

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Provide excellent customer service to our students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintains the clothing and gift departments.
  • Operate the cash register, process sales transactions accurately, and handle cash, credit, or debit card payments.
  • Processes web order transactions, including shipment.
  • Works closely with Director on product selection, merchandising sales floor, and replenishment.
  • Support store promotions, events, and special sales as needed.
  • Perform regular inventory checks to ensure products are available and stock levels are adequate.
  • Follow all store policies and procedures, including health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
  • Ensure that the store environment remains clean, safe, and organized for both customers and employees.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by Director to support the smooth operation of the store.
