Position Overview

Under the direction of the Value Stream Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for the safety all of associates under their direct supervision. This role will be responsible for all manufacturing activities in their assigned department(s) within a unionized facility to obtain desired quality and quantity of production at the lowest possible cost and provide exceptional leadership to production associates. The Production Supervisor must act as a dynamic change agent and will serve as a valuable member of the site management team.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to all aspects of established safety program including, but not limited to, wearing required PPE, utilizing Job Safety Analysis (JSA) to reduce safety risks and participation in Find It/Fix It program.
  • Full participation in post incident process for safety, including completion of all required investigations, documentation and RCCM in timely manner.
  • Support safety policies, procedures and training thru initiative and accountability and assist in development of processes to achieve a zero-incident culture.
  • Drive engagement and accountability with the workforce to ensure standard work is established and followed.
  • Perform Leader Standard Work daily to maximize production efficiency and conduct efficient coordination of plant functions.
  • Conduct daily meetings with associates to discuss departmental updates, metrics, and any other company related business.
  • Monitor and maintain effective cost controls, regarding efficiencies, waste/scrap reduction, pounds/hour, overtime, and manning. Adhere to budgetary guidelines established by Plant Management and proactively bring concerns forward.
  • Manage timecard approval and time entry for direct reports including reviewing & approval vacation requests in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Lead, coach, develop and recognize associates providing feedback and guidance to improve performance deficiencies or concerns.
  • Actively participate in Lean initiatives such as 6S, GEMBA, RCCM, Visual Management and support sustainment of Kaizen events.
  • Deliver process improvement suggestions that help to reduce costs, increase productivity, decrease scrap & past dues.
  • Assure production goals are met relative to Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost and Delivery.
  • Maintain open communication between adjoining shift supervision and Value Stream Managers to ensure smooth transition of operations and proactively alert them of any potential concerns.

Communicate with support functions such as Human Resources, Quality, etc. in a timely manner.

  • Ensure appropriate training of employees is completed & documented within assigned area(s).
  • Maintains full responsibility for associate dispute resolution, implementation & adherence to disciplinary guidelines. Collaborates with Human Resources when issues require extended investigation and support.
  • Assists HR with administration and adherence to all established company policies & procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Targeted Experience & Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED is required.
  • Associates or bachelor's degree in business related field is highly preferred. May consider experience in lieu of degree.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required. Union experience is highly preferred.
  • Must be able to work additional hours as needed including weekends to meet business needs.
  • Strong leadership and management abilities that enable associate to exhibit professional skills to deal with others and to create constructive working relationships.
  • Highly organized, self-starter who can take initiative upon themselves to prioritize, schedule and coordinate multiple activities and delegate tasks to the workforce.
  • Analytical skills to help identify opportunities for improvement or optimization of safety, quality, production, or other operational resources to aide in problem resolution.
  • Must have practical knowledge of and ability to interpret a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows environment including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of WorkDay and SAP is helpful and preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated business maturity and integrity, high degree of tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
  • Strong follow through, accountability, initiative and flexibility required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States, sponsorship for work visas is not available for this role.

Work Environment

To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, the associate must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation. The requirements listed within this job description are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required.

Some positions require personal protective equipment such as respirators which must seal tightly to the face. For these select roles, associates must be free of facial hair such as a beard or mustache.

While performing this position, the associate is required to regularly sit, stand and walk, use finger dexterity to write, grip, handle and feel. May be required to stoop, kneel or bend and to lift up to 50 lbs.

Associate will be exposed to moving parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. Appropriate PPE is provided and required to always maintain associate safety. Our facility is not temperature regulated so the associate will be exposed to heat, cold and humid conditions.

Noise levels vary from department to department but is considered moderate to loud with hearing protection required in all areas.

Travel/Mobility

Limited local travel may be required as needed.

Pay Range:

$74,209.00-$86,486.00
