POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Position Overview:

Performs general plumbing and associated duties necessary to maintain, repair, or upgrade all facilities plumbing systems and structures. Responsible for the equipment and tools necessary to perform such work. Keeps Supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Performs a variety of plumbing trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of pipe and pipefittings and fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing code.
  • Cuts openings in walls, floors, or ceilings to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.
  • Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals such as iron, steel, copper and lead and nonmetals such as glass, vitrified clay and plastic by using power and hand tools.
  • Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, bathtubs, water heaters, replaces burst pipes.
  • Opens clogged drains.
  • Studies building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations.
  • Maintain, repair, and install gas lines, hot water heaters and other gas related equipment.
  • Inspects structures to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe.
  • Installs, repairs, maintains, and tests backflow preventers.
  • Uses manometers to test/verify gas pressures.
  • Cuts and threads pipe, using pipe cutters and threading machines.
  • Assists other trades and crafts personnel in their daily operations.
  • Works from blueprints, drawings, models or verbal and written instructions.
  • Follows established safety procedures and utilizes safety protective equipment and clothing pertaining to particular trades or skills.
  • Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed.
  • Performs other tasks as directed by supervisor or Lead Technician.



Pay Rate $37.85 Hourly

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Five years' experience at journeyman plumbing level
  • General knowledge of hand and power tools
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid state driver's license
  • Must be able to obtain backflow tester's certification



Certification:



  • Valid Plumbers Journeyman's Certification or comparable experience
