DBMI has eighteen primary faculty members with a focus on developing and applying AI/ML methods in clinical informatics, translational bioinformatics, clinical research informatics, and public health informatics. The University of Pittsburgh and its regional collaborator, Carnegie-Mellon University, have dozens of additional faculty scholars pursuing research in AI/ML and healthcare.

The ideal candidate will be a nationally recognized scholar who is working at the intersection of AI/ML and biomedical informatics with one or more existing federally funded research projects. We welcome clinicians, including internists, pediatricians, surgeons, psychiatrists, nurses, and pharmacists, particularly those with an AI/ML research track record and interest in clinical informatics, precision medicine, or public health informatics.

Successful faculty recruits will be expected to lead an independently funded research program, leverage DBMI's exceptional infrastructure, and participate in instruction and mentoring in our NLM-funded Biomedical Informatics Training Program. Clinically trained faculty can pursue clinical practice and participate in the Clinical Informatics Subspecialty Fellowship Program. Faculty also have ample opportunity to explore commercialization and entrepreneurship toward the goal of commercializing innovative research.
