Primary Function:

Under direction of Corporate and Public Safety (CPS) Management, provides computer support to end users for online public safety training to public and private sector adult participants. Moderates, monitors, provides support, and troubleshoots online activity via Teams, Zoom, and/or Blackboard and other technologies as utilized. Troubleshoots and diagnoses basic problems related to participants online learning experiences before, during and after training sessions.

Responsibilities:

Assist in coordinating the day-to-day administration and logistics of the CPS online training courses. Ensure effective logistics before and during course implementation to include but not limited to undertaking administrative preparation of course materials in liaison with the trainers, supporting trainers with formatting and branding of materials and ensuring the smooth running of all online courses. Coordinate with trainers and participants to provide logistical and technical support before, during and after the online learning course. Escalates complex issues to ensure timely resolution. Assist with any other tasks required to support the set up and support of online courses. Keeps current with online course training materials, tools, technology, and protocols. Performs routine and other training program related tasks with minimal supervision. Run final report data and paperwork for submission, recordkeeping. Performs other related duties as may be assigned.

Organizational Relationships:

Responsible to the Director, Corporate and Public Safety for performance of assigned responsibilities; Serves in a support role to CPS students, teachers and administrative staff on matters related to CPS courses; Coordinates work with members of the administrative team; Relates to the College mission and goals.

Performance Standards:

Performance in this position is considered satisfactory when: (1) mutually agreed upon objectives have been attained within a specified timeframe, (2) responsibilities of the position have been carried out at a level consistent with performance objectives; (3) effective cooperative relationships exist with other members of the administrative team; (4) confidential aspects of the position are maintained.

Qualifications:

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required. One (1) year of training in online learning technology either through direct experience working with the technology or by completing courses designed to provide troubleshooting skills and use of MS Office applications is highly desirable.

Knowledge of:

  • Some or all the following systems: online learning tools (Blackboard preferred), printers and peripherals, a variety of software applications (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, email, Intranet, web browsers) and Zoom.
  • Computers and related software, and/or tablets and mobile devices; and common internet protocols such as email, chat, secure file transfer, and internet.
  • Customer services principles.

Able to:

  • Quickly learn technical programs with focus on e-learning platforms (ex. Blackboard.)
  • Convey technical information and interact professionally with frustrated online students to assist in resolving their issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Provide assistance and problem solve a variety of online learning and basic computer related issues to insure a highly satisfactory adult student learning experience.
  • Foster and maintain a high level of professional, positive customer service.
  • Effectively prioritizes work requests and occasionally may work long hours.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Multi-task and effectively use time management skills.
  • Work as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Be efficient and organized with good attention to detail.
