Job Description |
ECU Campus Recreation and Wellness is currently seeking Well-Being Coaches and Well-Being Ambassadors. These roles offer flexible hours and the chance to gain valuable experience in promoting and supporting the overall health of the campus community. You will play a vital part in creating an environment of belonging and wellness, supporting the Division of Student Affairs' commitment to purposeful well-being.
Well-Being Coach Responsibilities:
- Establish rapport with clients using effective communication strategies to build and maintain collaborative relationships
- Help clients take responsibility for personal health by identifying strengths, challenges, and available resources to make healthful lifestyle choices
- Facilitate client-directed behavior change using evidence-based coaching strategies
- Use health, medical, wellness, and lifestyle information to stratify risk, identify the need for medical clearance and referrals, establish baselines, and facilitate plan development
- Design and implement individualized plans based on assessment data and goals
- Evaluate plan effectiveness and adjust as needed to promote adherence and success
- Maintain accurate and confidential records
- Respond to emergencies and high-risk situations following established protocols
- Maintain professional competence by staying current on research, technology, and industry standards
- Demonstrate sensitivity to all populations
- Solicit and incorporate feedback from various sources to enhance professionalism and future experiences
Well-Being Ambassador Responsibilities:
- Support the planning and implementation of well-being programs
- Assist with the setup and execution of well-being events and activities
- Promote well-being initiatives across campus
- Engage with students to gather feedback on well-being programs
- Assist with marketing and outreach efforts for well-being programs
- Provide excellent customer service and support to students
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of well-being activities

Well-Being Ambassador Qualifications:
- Must be a current ECU student in good academic standing
- Valid CPR/AED and First Aid certification and blood-borne pathogens training within 60 days of hire
NASPA Certified Peer Educator training within 60 days of hire- Completion of HLTH 1000 or other health-related courses
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
- Ability to work independently and as a team for a minimum of 5-12 hours per week
General Qualifications:
- Must be a currently enrolled ECU student in good academic standing
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Passion for promoting health and well-being
- Experience in peer coaching or mentoring preferred (for Well-Being Coaches)
- Familiarity with wellness and well-being concepts
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team for a minimum of 8-12 hours per week
- Flexible work availability, including early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays, and ECU sanctioned breaks
