The Area Safety Manager will work closely with local leaders and the Safety Manager to execute safety standards and policies for the Rocky Mountain regional office. Responsibilities
- Promotes Behavioral Based Safety policies and procedures to be followed by company or plant personnel in
compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations * Oversee the development and day-to-day responsibilities of the safety team within their designated specialties * Assists the Director of Safety in making strategic decisions that impact the overall safety and procedures of the organization * Assists in the leading and coordination of safety-related trainings and training programs/media to employees across all levels of leadership * Complete safety inspections of job sites and organization facilities to detect existing or potential safety and health hazards; recommend corrective or preventative measures where indicated. * Engages site management to ensure safety equipment/supplies are on site and provides recommendations in selecting local occupational emergency services * Ensures all job site safety audits are performed correctly, corrects any potential errors, and documents various initial site inspections * Monitors and promotes weekly on-site safety inspections including logging, reporting and documentation. * Assists the Director of Safety with the investigation of accidents, injuries and near misses and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations * Performs additional duties as required -
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university,
- Preferably in Occupational Health or Safety in the construction industry
- and four or more years of related experience
- Or equivalent combination of both education and experience
- OSHA certifications required
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Able to track information and conduct audits
- Ability to write reports and procedure manuals
- Can effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Ability to work well with others and achieve results through others, without having a direct line of authority over them
- Must possess sound judgement skills, and the ability to prioritize work and deal with stress
- Industrial/Contracting/Oil & Gas/Food & Beverage/Wastewater/ Construction experience preferred
