Description

This position is in the Computer Core Facility at the Channing Division of Network Medicine at Brigham Health. Research IS Analyst II will collaborate with the systems manager, the systems administration team, and the director of the computer facility and to ensure the smooth operation of the Channing Computer System and its continued progress.

The nature of computation performed in this environment consistently pushes the limits of capacity, capability, performance, and permission. Desire to continually learn the evolving technological landscape to consider if emerging technologies are the proper solution or modification to existing systems are needed. Must be able to take a wholistic approach to recommend the best path forward.

Good verbal and written communication skills are needed to clearly convey project status to the team and customers. Able to create reusable system documentation and user facing FAQs. Patience for those with less technical ability is required. A service-based approach to all interactions with researchers is required.

Main Responsibilities



  • Monitors and develops methods to track systems function and resource utilization.Identifies, researches and recommends new systems and systems improvements.
  • Analyzes system user work flows and assists adapting workflows to best available resource.
  • Provide remote assistance and training for CDNM systems users.
  • Develops training material and documentation for CDNM Computer System.
  • Write and manage scripts to configure and maintain systems and applications
  • Serves as an expert resource for the Channing computing community, may require occasional 30 - 45 min presentations about technical matters to better inform the computing community of the core's resources and capabilities.
  • Reviews system performance and tests methods for enhancing system and software performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in STEM field

Minimum:



  • 5 years Linux systems experience.
  • 5 years working in HPC environment.
  • 3 years scripting in python.
  • Hands-on experience: Docker, Singularity, AWS, GCP, Azure, Openstack, schedulers, chef, puppet, Ansible, python.
  • Experience in NAS systems, HPC resource managament and scheduling, managing and deploying web applications, Kubernetes, monitoring tools (nagios), esxi, vcenter, Google Workspace, R, SAS and gather metrics on the same.
