Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) invites applications for a full-time Explorer Pathways Program Coordinator to join our Academics team. Under the direction of the Executive Vice President of Academics, the Explorer Pathways Program Coordinator will coordinate the new Explore Engineering and Explore Computing first year pathways for undeclared majors. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering the Exploring Engineering course, working with other units on campus to promote the pathways, and facilitating successful transition of Explorer pathway students into degree programs.

Essential Job Functions

  • Coordinate Exploring Engineering course, including:

    • Regular meetings with faculty and staff instructors before and during course
    • Provide instructors with all necessary course materials
    • Communicate with all course presenters
    • Facilitate class sessions involving advising, reflection, and other discernment topics
    • Coordinate student assessment across sections (sample assessments, rubrics)
    • Work with faculty and staff to establish interdisciplinary case studies for students
    • Complete all necessary institutional assessments for CLOs, ABET, etc.
    • Administrative tasks including registration support and catalog updates


  • Represent the Explorer pathways at admissions events
  • Work with Admissions and Marketing to ensure messaging is up-to-date and effective
  • Work with the Registrar's office on registration and scheduling for Explorer courses
  • Work with academic Department Chairs to assign faculty and academic advisors to Explorer courses
  • Work with academic departments/programs to facilitate student transition, including advising handoff and estimated student flow into program courses before registration begins
  • Report out to academic and institutional leaders on program success
  • Work with external funding partners as necessary


Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the Raider Center for Academic Success to coordinate support services for Explorer students
  • Work with Student Affairs and Residence Life to coordinate co-curricular events and other cohort building opportunities for Explorer students
  • Perform outreach to former students who have left the university, assist those who wish to return and/or complete their degrees by researching remaining course requirements
  • Perform outreach to students at risk of leaving the university

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in higher education
  • Master's degree or higher preferred
  • Familiarity with engineering or engineering education preferred
  • Major/career exploration experience preferred
  • Experience with curriculum and course development preferred


Skills and Abilities

  • Outstanding project management, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in the use and application of computer systems and software programs including databases, spreadsheets, and word processing software
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize multiple competing tasks and demands


Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee is largely sedentary, the ability to move is required. The employee is occasionally required to traverse within their work area as well as other areas on campus.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role uses standard office equipment, including but not limited to computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
