The Director of International Recruitment, reporting to Vice Provost for Enrollment Management, works strategically with the Graduate School, Undergraduate Admissions, Marketing, College Divisions, Office of International Student and Scholars, and, other campus partners to create strategic plans that fulfill the university's international student enrollment goals.

  • The role demands a strong leader with excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, capable of motivating a dispersed team and managing international partnerships.
  • A data-driven mindset, the ability to translate complex demographic information into actionable strategies.
  • At least four years US-based professional work-related experience in international recruitment and/or admission advising at a higher education setting.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, with extensive international experience, either professional or educational.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, intercultural, organizational, and communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • High level of initiative and goal orientation, including motivation to achieve aggressive goals.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Foreign Credential Evaluation.
  • Experience working with international student mobility and recruitment trends.
  • Familiarity with academic and cultural issues confronting international students from diverse backgrounds in U.S. university and community settings.
  • Knowledge of U.S. institutions' admission policies, higher education policies, and practices.
  • Familiarity with communication applications such as Skype, Zoom, WhatsApps, etc.
  • Ability to advise students individually and in groups.

Duty/Responsibility
International Recruitment Strategy and Leadership

  • Create and implement data-driven, market-specific plans to meet international recruitment targets while ensuring a diverse and high-quality student body at both the graduate and undergraduate level on UNH Durham and Manchester campuses.
  • Critically assess and evaluate recruitment activity with respect to return on investment in relation to targets, make recommendations, and improvements as necessary.
  • Enhance current and establishing new international recruitment policies.
  • Co-create department and school/college level planning, process development, and international recruitment goal setting with appropriate enrollment management and academic affairs colleagues.
  • Lead the on-campus committee(s) related to internationalization of UNH campuses to ensure that students are successful and supported when they arrive at UNH.
  • Participate in enrollment management campus-wide teams, taskforces, and other ad hoc communities relating to strategic planning.
  • Develop long-term plans to increase international student enrollment and manage growth in ways that leverage technology and align with university-wide strategic planning.
  • Provide data for campus partners in academic colleges/schools, program directors that inform and consistently improve international student recruitment.
  • This position manages the international recruitment staff in collaboration with undergraduate and graduate departments.



Duty/Responsibility
Agency and Third-Party Partner Management

  • Liaise with established third-party recruitment partners, university partners, and agents to direct international recruitment efforts.
  • Manage agency contracts; begin new partnerships in strategic areas and ensure agreements remain in good status/canceled as needed.
  • Conduct regular audits and analysis of partner performance.
  • Oversee agency training, updates, and relationship maintenance.
  • Oversee agent invoicing and payment process.
  • Provide content for regular agency and partner newsletters and campus updates.



Duty/Responsibility
International Recruitment Travel

  • Plan, organize, and execute necessary international travel plans and personally conducts some of that travel to recruit international students.
  • Maintain and develop international partnerships (e.g., international high schools, universities, EducationUSA Offices, and funding agencies abroad as deemed necessary).
  • Set up in-country recruitment events (presentations, workshops, panels, yield events, etc.).
  • Lead recruitment visits, and advise faculty and staff on best practices in international student recruitment visits.
  • Manage recruitment travel plan logistics following university procedures and policies.
  • Support and train other international travelers, including international recruitment staff, faculty, and other university personnel, and ensure that their travel is in line with international recruitment objectives.
  • Prepare and manage annual budget for international recruitment travel.



Duty/Responsibility
International File Review Management

  • Oversee application funnel for graduate and undergraduate international student applications.
  • Support admission decisions for undergraduate and graduate students, including providing training for staff and faculty.
  • Collaborate with admissions departments for timely and effective application processes.
  • Serve as a resource in the international student admissions process to advise on and inform prospective students and family members of visa and compliance regulations.
  • Build resources and information tools needed for foreign credential processing.
  • Develop processes and procedures for international file review.
  • Collaborate with the Office of International Students and Scholars for visa processing and student preparation.
  • Responsible for rendering timely and accurate admission decisions on international applications.



Duty/Responsibility
International Enrollment Operations and Communications

  • Manage the annual planning and reporting on the strategic enrollment management international recruitment initiative.
  • Coordinate databases, customer relationship management (CRM) using tools like Slate, Salesforce, Tableau, and other data-driven tools.
  • Ensure key messages and proper calls to action based on population and student type are being delivered to international prospects, applicants, counselors, and international partners/agents.
  • Partner with Marketing and admission departments to inform content for international print, digital, swag, and email communications.
  • Partner with graduate and undergraduate admission teams on content for international students' outreach (WhatsApps, SMS, etc.), execute outreach campaigns.
  • Hold informational webinars, virtual events, and yield events for admitted international students.
  • Oversee international recruitment budget.
