DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Maintenance Repairman 1 for the Southwestern Veterans Center, you will perform a wide-range of semi-skilled work surrounding the maintenance of buildings and grounds throughout the facility. Specific duties include utilizing equipment to maintain lawn appearance, as well as conducting various landscaping activities and ensuring that walkways, steps, and parking lots remain free from debris and litter. You will also be responsible for snow and ice removal, performing masonry work, and assisting with basic carpentry and plumbing functions. It is essential to consistently practice the utmost of safety precautions while completing tasks and projects. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment, 37.5 hours/week.
- Work hours are 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position may require you to be available for emergency call-outs.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirements:
- You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
