DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will supervise the RTMC Operators. This includes supervision of daily work activities, providing necessary training to operators, conducting performance reviews and approving or disapproving leave requests. In addition, you will be expected to perform necessary administrative activities associated with shift staffing schedules. You will have the opportunity to monitor CCTV, 800 MHz radio communications, police and fire scanners, incident detector devices, and assess current roadway conditions for traffic, weather, and overall operations. Other duties to include but not limited to:
- Determining the area of influence of an incident and then providing traveler information by activation of Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) devices
- Reporting and notifying necessary maintenance personnel of highway incidents and or weather condition that may present an imminent danger to the public
- Managing Service Patrol Vehicle activities by directing them to incidents and tracking/logging their subsequent actions
- Activating AMBER Alerts when initiated by the Pennsylvania State Police or PennDOT
- Creating an Action Event Plan for Special Events

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, Friday - Tuesday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. After a 6 month probationary period, positions will be telework eligible at the discretion of the supervisor. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Regional Traffic Management Center Operator or
- Two years of experience evaluating and coordinating information related to traffic data, incidents or conditions.
