DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities related to the upkeep and repair of buildings, grounds, machinery, and equipment. The individual is tasked with maintaining the aesthetic quality of lawns by utilizing both hand and riding mowers for grass cutting, as well as trimming trees, bushes, and hedges, and managing leaf collection through raking.
In addition to lawn care, the position involves various landscaping duties, including the application of mulch, the removal of weeds and debris, seeding grass as needed, fertilizing lawns, and nurturing flower beds. The role also requires the transportation of materials and residents using commonwealth vehicles, ensuring that sidewalks, steps, and parking areas remain clear of debris, litter, and snow.
The operator is expected to proficiently handle a variety of equipment such as riding lawn tractors, push mowers, and snow removal machinery, while also performing preventive maintenance on these tools, which includes tasks like changing oil and replacing worn parts. The position may involve masonry work, such as patching walls and repairing steps, as well as assisting with carpentry tasks related to the construction and maintenance of various structural elements.
Plumbing assistance is also part of the role, which includes replacing fixtures, caulking, and addressing leaks. Additional responsibilities include changing light bulbs, painting both the interior and exterior of assigned buildings, and ensuring that all work areas are cleaned thoroughly upon completion. The individual is expected to collaborate with other tradesmen as needed, adhere to safety protocols, and utilize personal protective equipment when required. Compliance with DMVA safety regulations is mandatory, and any workplace incidents or hazards must be reported or addressed immediately.

- Full-time employment (7.50 hours/day; 37.5 hours/week)
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- Evenings and weekends as needed
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Additional Requirement:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
