DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a pharmacy assistant under the direction of the chief pharmacist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and safe distribution of medication within the hospital. You will work closely with licensed pharmacists to complete various tasks, including Pyxis machine filling, restocking medications, inventory management, unit-dosing, cleaning, and record keeping. It is important to note that the pharmacy assistant does not have authority to dispense any medication without final approval from a licensed pharmacist. This ensures that all medications are checked and verified by a trained professional before being administered to consumers. In order to effectively carry out your duties, you will need to communicate with other disciplines such as nursing, transportation, and housekeeping. Additionally, it is imperative to be respectful to all staff members.

- Full-time employment (37.5 hours per week)
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience assisting a licensed pharmacist in the preparation and dispensing of medications in a hospital pharmacy; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
