DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Aging Care Manager 2, you will perform a variety of advocacy related functions for the Ombudsman Program within the Advocacy and Oversight Division/Ombudsman Unit in the Allegheny County AAA. Specific duties involve receiving, investigating, and resolving complaints related to health, safety, or rights of older individuals who are consumers of Long Term Care (LTC) services. Efficient and sincere interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be meeting with staff, family members, and other individuals representing the residents in order to facilitate an amicable solution to the complaint, as well as conduct follow-up appointments to ensure stable resolution. You will maintain detailed documentation and case records of complaints received, investigations, findings, resolutions, and information on other Ombudsman activities as required by the Ombudsman Program Aging Program Directive (APD). This professional must exercise confidentiality for all information and records acquired by the Ombudsman Program with disclosure only according to procedures established by the Office of the State LTC Ombudsman. Strong leadership skills are utilized to provide community education surrounding LTC services and individual rights. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months as an Aging Care Manager 1 or a County Caseworker 1; or
- Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
- Six months of professional human services or nursing experience; and a bachelor's degree in social sciences, behavioral sciences, human services, or a closely related field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
