County Casework Manager 2 (Local Government) - Northumberland County C&Y

This is a professional social service position in which you will oversee Children & Youth social service supervisors organize and administer department activities as well as perform community organizational responsibilities in terms of assessing community needs and resources. Your coordination of children and youth activities with other programs and agencies will rely on a thorough knowledge of applicable federal and state laws. You will have have the opportunity to work closely with the overall judicial system, president judge, and juvenile probation office where necessary. Responsibilities include:

• Preparing annual service plans and budget estimates, including the assessment of community needs and resources
• Coordinating children and youth related social services with other county programs and agencies
• Supervising a group of lower-level county social service supervisors
• Preparing and directing the compilation of reports, correspondence, and the maintenance of files and records
• Conducting management and case staff meetings
• Training staff on current policies, programs, and procedures
• Developing and evaluating ongoing staff training needs and programs
• Acting as staff assistant to the Children and Youth Advisory Board
• Facilitating Children and Youth Services primary providers meeting

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Four years of experience in public or private social work including two years in a public welfare program, two of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; and a bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
