This position is with NorthStar Clean Energy, a CMS Energy company, and is not a position of employment with Consumers Energy.

This position resides in the Renewable Operations section of Northstar Clean Energy. This position supports wind, solar and battery energy storage assets with Renewable Operations at the Northwest Wind and Solar site in Haviland, Ohio. Renewable Generation assets are a key part of the Clean and Lean effort to meet the renewable energy demand from our utility, industrial and commercial customers.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

The Site Supervisor is an integral part of the NorthStar leadership team who is responsible for implementing, monitoring and enhancing the following key processes within the Renewable Operations Team including, but not limited to: safe and reliable operations of the wind site, predictive/preventive maintenance execution; equipment outage planning (including long-term financial plan; online work management schedule (including contractor work); environmental, NERC and FERC regulations compliance, creation and use of procedures and job aids.

In addition, the Site Supervisor is responsible for daily operational report, monitoring unit performance trends and taking action to prevent or address threats to generation and/or improvements in operation, along with interface to local stakeholders (local municipalities, landowners, etc.).

Key Responsibilities include:



  • Work Management Support (status of Notifications/Work Orders to/from O&M provider).
  • Maintenance Plan/Work Order Support (parts and technical support) for wind and solar+BESS site.
  • Lock Out Tag Out Equipment Lists (for Work Executed by contract maintenance, or Missing Equipment on short notice for solar+BESS only).
  • Insurance Inspection Support (FM Global/Chubb).
  • Equipment Testing Support (Post-Maintenance Testing from Maintenance Activity). This includes outage and engineering support when necessary.
  • Perform/coordinate NERC and Environmental regulatory compliance activities, maintain associated records and perform filings as necessary
  • Coordinate Bird/Bat Monitoring Program according to the Habitat Conservation Plan and Incidental Take Permit
  • Manage requirements specified in the Incidental Take permit
  • Manage compliance to the SPCC plan and waste shipment/disposal
  • Complete required Environmental Reporting (annual WIRS, SARA Tier II, Company Sustainability Metrics)
  • Procedure Input (Maintenance/Operations Procedures).
  • Assuring Northstar and Contractor employees adhere to OSHA, MIOSHA and Northstar Clean Energy safety standards.
  • Ensure critical equipment performance and health is monitored.
  • Establish and implement processes and procedures that support the reliable, safe and compliant operation of facility electrical equipment.
  • Work with Wind and Solar Staff, employees and other outside resources to ensure all Wind and Solar employees are adhering to all Environmental, Health and Safety standards.
  • Project management responsibilities are expected for small projects for the plant.
  • This position will report to the Renewable Asset Manager for Renewable Operations.
  • Compliance with the CMS Energy Code of Conduct.
  • Must maintain a high level of integrity as the standard bearer for reliable plant operations of Wind and Solar plant equipment.
  • Must be able to climb/ride on wind turbine ladders and service lifts. This could potentially require confinement in tight spaces for short periods.



Requirements/Qualifications:

*Bachelor's Degree in technical field or related discipline with a minimum of five (5) years' of applicable experience [OR] Associate degree in Technical field or related discipline with a minimum of six (6) years of applicable experience [OR] High School Diploma with a minimum of eight (8) years of applicable experience

*5+ years of generating plant OR equivalent technical/professional experience with an emphasis on renewable generation.

The following skills and experience may set you apart from others:

*Demonstrated leadership, which may include supervision of employees and/or oversight. of contractors on project work at power generating facilities.

*A thorough demonstrated understanding of renewable plant operations, including a working knowledge of the operations & maintenance functions.

*Contract administration and project closeout and reporting experience.

*Experience with basic maintenance practices on wind, solar and BESS assets.

*Experience with overseeing and executing small to medium projects.

*Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio).

*Proficient in GE Mark VI/Toolbox ST turbine controls and/or various solar inverter systems is preferred.

*Experience with OSISoft PI Historian preferred.

*Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

This position will be located at Northstar Clean Energy's Northwest Ohio Wind and Solar Project, in Haviland, OH with other local site support potential.

Essential Functions

*Planning, design, construction, and maintenance of and Electric Generation systems as well as facilities and ancillary support process for all utility operations.

*Individual possesses the skills to lead, problem solve, and work well in a team environment.

*Individual should exemplify safe work practices and follow the company's compliance standards.

*Become familiar with plans and specifications, maps, and related material for each project and be able to utilize the information appropriately.

*Assists in client contact and communication.

*Utilize effective oral and written communication skills to provide technical expertise to coworkers, clients, customers, government entities and the public.

*Public involvement may include producing reports, graphics, presentations, and other visual material as well as occasional speaking or meeting with stakeholders.

*Attend internal and external meetings.

*Resolve all customer complaints in a timely manner.

*Serve as onsite project representative.

*Regular attendance at the Northwest Ohio Wind and Solar Project site is expected a minimum of two days per week.

Hours and Travel:

*Travel is required to job sites and project meetings and could be significant dependent upon location up to 10%

*Individuals need to be willing to work additional hours as necessary to meet deadlines or assist with generation equipment outage activities, which may include evenings and weekends as needed.

*Individual may have to work outside of assigned headquarters to help with projects, troubleshooting or other plant support which may require overnight stays at times.

*Individuals must have a valid driver's license.
