Job Objective(s):

The role of the Clinical Assistant is to support the clinical team related to plan of care objectives, scheduled services and procedures to ensure that the health and safety needs of all residents are met. The Clinical Assistant must be able to relate professionally with residents, staff, and family members, display a positive work attitude and be able to work as a team with other staff members.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Maintain and monitor staffing standards through MakeShift.
  • Follow the staffing phone to monitor call off's, tardiness, and staff communications.
  • Maintain attendance and punctuality tracker for clinical staff.
  • Complete payroll processing for clinical staff.
  • Interview and onboard new resident assistants.
  • Assures that staff clearly understands and follows all resident care procedures.
  • Communicate the value of activity programming to resident assistants and provide coaching and training for successfully inviting and engaging residents.
  • Encourage resident attendance and participation in activities, with an eye to their needs and preferences.
  • Communicate clearly with resident assistants as to their responsibilities pertaining to activities and resident engagement.
  • Provide coaching and education to resident assistants.
  • Provide supervision while serving meals in dining room.
  • Make daily rounds to connect with staff and residents.
  • Provide on-going education for memory care staff (resident assistants, dining services staff, etc.) in successful interactions and interventions with persons with dementia.
  • Communicate pertinent information about residents to staff through communication books, memos and/or stand-up meetings as appropriate.
  • Promotes a positive, team approach and a healthy work environment.

Health Office Duties

  • Schedule staff in coordination with the Registered Nurse (RN)/Director of Nursing (DON).
  • Verify accuracy of the service schedules and make adaptations as required under supervision of RN.
  • Assures residents have up to date service agreements per state regulations.
  • Monitor and maintain resident charts and clinical progress notes under supervision of RN.
  • Report residents' change of health status (physical or mental) to RN.
  • Ensure medical supplies and equipment are maintained and order as directed by RN.
  • Work as a team player with all members of the resident care team.
  • Share resident and family concerns with pertinent staff as needed/appropriate.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings.
  • Work with DON to assure emergency procedures are in place.
  • Is flexible and willing to expand and adapt to changes in the AL industry.
  • Able to work flexible hours and be available to respond to the campus during off-duty hours regarding clinical concerns and emergencies.
  • Assures compliance with regulations and is available for federal and state licensure surveys.

Other

  • Report all accidents and incidents observed on the shift as they occur.
  • Respond to emergencies in accordance with the community's policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all company personnel directives as per the Employee Handbook.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of one year experience in home health, assisted living or long-term care is preferred.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to self-start and follow through with initiative requiring minimal amount of supervision.
  • Exhibits a caring heart with a passion to care for the elderly.
  • Possesses strong work ethic, good judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience using a computerized resident record system and staff scheduling software.
