POSITION OVERVIEW Milliken's Allen Plant Chemical Facility is seeking a qualified individual to join its manufacturing team as a Warehouse Operations Specialist. The WH Operations Specialist performs all daily tasks related to shipping, receiving, and support to the Environmental department, and performs additional assignments as requested by Supply Chain Leader or Warehouse Facilitator. The work schedule for this role is Monday - Friday, 1st shift. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Chemical Handling: Appropriately handle chemicals using the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- WH duties - primary duties and requirements same as Distribution Specialist (WHSPI37R5):
- Complete Shipping and Receiving daily checklist along with all necessary paperwork including Order Tracking Logs, SHR's, Transfer Orders, and Bills of Lading.
- Organize the daily work activities of substitute Distribution Specialists (Production Operators filling in when there is a need).
- Receive raw materials from vendor trucks at warehouse and manufacturing loading docks. This includes unloading, sampling, labeling, storage, inventory receipt, and paperwork handling.
- Ship finished goods from warehouse and manufacturing docks. This includes movement to loading dock area, placement of shipping labels on containers, transfer of bill of lading and SDS to truck driver, loading of goods onto truck.
- Operates computer system to receive raw materials, ship finished goods, complete bin transfers, and other transactions as required. (This includes use of the SAP system via terminal, and PC interfaces.)
- Responsible for safe, efficient, accurate and timely receipt, shipment and movement of finished goods, intermediates, and raw materials.
- Actively consolidates bins, does corresponding SAP transactions, and attempts to resolve problems found. Gets Warehouse Facilitator involved as necessary.
- Attends & actively participates in Plant Morning Meetings as their work schedule allows.
- Responsible for training new Distribution Specialists in all aspects of Shipping and Receiving.
- Implements freeze-thaw procedures in manufacturing dock areas and warehouse.
- Actively contributes to Shipping and Receiving process improvement, innovation, and preventative and corrective action.
- Shares knowledge acquired in operations with other Distribution Specialists to broaden the capability of all associates.
- Responsible for maintaining outstanding housekeeping of all raw material, intermediate, and finished good storage and staging areas. This includes all bins in the warehouse and manufacturing areas and all shipment staging areas.
- Responsible for actively participating in the safety process through membership on at least one of the Plant Safety Teams, completion of safety team-assigned action items, and performing area safety audits. Follow all safety procedures, wear all required safety equipment, and use all provided safety devices (safety chains, etc.) in the performance of all job duties.
- Requests and follows-up on maintenance requirements for all production or support equipment in the warehouse areas.
- Perform duties by following established procedures. Deviations from procedures must have prior management approval.
- Assist other associates in emergency situations in accordance with established procedures.
- Performs assignments as required by Milliken management. When in doubt concerning an assignment, contact a production leader for clarification/instructions.
- Ships and receive materials to and from contract manufacturers and outside warehouses and handle related paperwork.
- Actively participates in plant safety program/process.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by WH Facilitator or Supply Chain Manager.
- Environmental Duties:
- Packaging and Shipping: Properly package, label, and load all wastes (i.e. hazardous, non-hazardous, universal, empty drum, plastic, and cardboard shipments) through various carriers, ensuring compliance with DOT and RCRA regulations.
- Documentation: Prepare and manage all necessary documentation for waste shipments
- Inventory Management: Manage and maintain an accurate inventory of all waste materials and consolidate materials as needed.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain required DOT and RCRA certificates.
- Work Environment: Ensure a safe, clean, and organized work environment in both the Chemical Storage Area and the Samples Area, as well as the Flame pad and hazardous waste storage and non-hazardous waste storage areas.
- Professionalism: Maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor in all business dealings.
- Independence: Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by Environmental Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in Chemical and/or DG Shipping.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
- Self-motivated requiring little direct supervision.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to proofread and interpret written documents.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to communicate and interact with multiple levels within an organization as well as outside vendors.
PERFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience using SAP.
- DOT HAZMAT, IATA, DG certification, and ICAO technical instructions.
- Experience with classifying/determining Limited Quantity, Excepted Quantity, and marking/labeling Special Packaging.
- Experience shipping DG using DHL and FedEx software.
- Experience with Export documentation and INCO terms.
- Experience with PSM covered chemical processes.
- Ability to operate fork-lift.
