Join our dynamic team as a Senior Systems Engineer - Mars Architecture Team Concept Study and become a vital contributor to support NASA as an Oceaneering Teammate on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in the Advanced Projects section in the Engineering Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract. Duties & Responsibilities
SOME OF YOUR MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE: * Develop concepts and define future human space exploration vehicles and missions and Mars surface exploration campaigns and future long term Mars surface missions will also be studied and developed. * Develop and evolve conceptual vehicles by working with multi discipline teams in a highly collaborative environment. * Work on architecture definitions and functional flows. * Work on requirements definition, flow-down, assessment. * Work on trade studies and stakeholder reviews. * Summarize architecture study/trade study outcomes and present recommendations to NASA leadership. * Work in a team environment and report to the team lead to provide status on progress and issues and for support. * Maintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors. * Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
REQUIRED * Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field and a minimum of five (5) years of experience. * Experience with requirements development, design trades, development of Concept of Operations, risk analysis, and system analysis of space hardware. * Experience creating concepts for operations of single vehicle systems as well as operations across multiple space vehicles. * Experience with technology roadmap development and creating technology infusion plans. * Experience collecting/understanding stakeholder needs. * Experience with interface definition for vehicle subsystems. * Experience with interface definitions between multiple vehicles or elements of a mission. * Experience creating configuration growth or evolution plans and defining incremental capabilities for a mission sequence. * Ability to define mission sequences both within a single mission and across multiple missions. * Experience with Test and Verification of spaceflight hardware. * Knowledge of systems engineering principles and associated documentation. PREFERRED * Electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering degree. * Experience working with multiple NASA organizations. * Experience working across NASA centers. * Experience with hardware or software development projects. * Experience with space mission analysis (e.g., orbit analysis, delta-V budgets, spacecraft constraint evaluation). * Familiarity with human space exploration systems (for example Orion, Commercial Crew, ISS, EMU/xEMU). * Basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, and material selection for engineering products. * INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional certification. * Familiarity with system architecture tools such as DoDAF, TODAF, etc. Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency maybe a requirement for this position. Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation. Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
