Job Summary

The Loudoun County Department of General Services is seeking qualified applicants for a Transit Operations Manager vacancy in the Transit and Commuter Services Division.

This primarily field-based position is responsible for monitoring performance of the County's contracted transit services and maintenance operations. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of public transit operations, and related state and federal regulations pertaining to public transit systems; ability to research and prepare reports; ability to analyze problems and situations and to adopt quick, effective, and reasonable courses of action; and the ability to manage contracts.

Duties include but are not limited to:
*Managing daily transit operations - physically monitoring morning and afternoon pull outs from the yard, observing and reporting the condition of bus stops, bus shelters and park and ride lots, cleanliness of buses, and ensuring facility compliance with Federal Transit Administration facility standards.
*Monitoring appearance of buses, coordinating upkeep and maintenance of the Park and Ride lots.
*Monitoring the functionality of Real-Time Information Systems and fare boxes.
*Monitoring on-time performance of all commuter bus, local fixed routes, and paratransit services.
*Contract compliance and performance oversight.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Transportation Planning or a related field; three (3) years of related work experience in planning or public transportation; or equivalent combination of education and\\experience.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Valid driver's license and good driving record required (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification). The successful candidate will undergo pre-employment criminal, credit, and DMV record background checks.

Will be required to work in an outdoor environment and/or operate a vehicle in various types of weather. This position requires flexibility to be periodically present during early morning hours, evenings, and weekend days to monitor transit operations. This position is considered "essential."

This position is eligible for teleworking 1-2 days per week.
