Guest and Nutrition Services Technician II

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Provides daily cleaning and sanitizing of a variety of in-patient, clinic, public, administrative, and surgical areas within the facility and off site facility buildings. Collects, removes and transports trash, bio waste, sharps containers and soiled linen. Replenishes supplies and linen is assigned areas. Performs inventory and restocking duties. Transports patient meal trays in the absence of a MMC Guest and Nutrition Services Technician I.Completes work in accordance with department and Medical Center policies, procedures and infection control guidelines.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
  • Follows infection control and safety guidelines.
  • Observes patient privacy and treats all patients and guest with respect.
  • Operates/demonstrates, cleans and stores equipment properly and reports issues to Guest and Nutrition Services leaders.
  • Operates a variety of machines and cleaning equipment. (i.e scrubbers, buffers, light strike robot, chemical dispensers).
  • Maintains understanding of chemical use related to specific work areas and MSDS.
  • Explains, promotes and follows policies including safety, security and infection control policies and guidelines.
  • Recognizes and responds to emergencies according to procedure.
  • Maintains carts, shelves, storage areas and work areas in a clean orderly fashion.
  • Cleans all patient, clinic and administrative areas of hospital following infection control policies.
  • Cleans emergency rooms.
  • Power scrubs/buffs floors and shampoos carpeted areas as needed.
  • Cleans surgical areas and operating rooms in accordance with facility and AORN guidelines.
  • Uses light strike robot and Clorox 360 machine per protocol.
  • Sets up patient trays with cold food/drink, utensils and related supplies in absence of a MMC Guest and Nutrition Services Technician I.
  • Deliver meals to patient care areas in absence of a MMC Guest and Nutrition Services Technician I.
  • Participates in linen distribution processes including ordering/unloading/sorting linen carts, performing physical inventory of linens and assembling, filling and delivering linen orders.
  • Reviews unit's guest services needs related to patient dismissals and transfers.
  • Routinely monitors appearance of the Medical Center and problem-solves and reports housekeeping or maintenance needs to the appropriate staff.
  • Accurately and effectively operates cash register and makes appropriate customer change.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  • Participates in meetings, committees and lean projects as assigned.
  • Performs other related projects and duties as assigned



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school graduate or equivalency preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older. Previous custodial, janitor or cleaning experience preferred.

OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

Per Leader's Discretion - Valid State of Nebraska driver's license required. Verification and maintenance of responsible driving record per facility standards required.
