Job Summary:

The Human Resources (HR) Assistant will provide essential support to the School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) HR Team, assisting with various administrative tasks and contributing to the smooth operation of HR processes. The HR Assistant will be responsible for executing a range of HR responsibilities from a collaborative, customer-service-oriented perspective including but not limited to:

* Performing new hire processing such as I-9 completion and background checks.

* Enter and process Student hourly hires.

* Supporting and promoting compliance with SVM and UW Madison policies and procedures.

* Providing back-up to other HR staff activities as needed.

* Completing HR projects as assigned.

Responsibilities:
Performs routine human resources activities and provides general administrative support in more than one functional area such as recruitment, classification, payroll and benefits for a work unit. Serves as a resource contact disseminating information on rules, regulations, procedures, and statutes.

  • 10% Interprets, applies, and disseminates routine recruitment and staffing policies, procedures, and options to leadership and employees; recommends best strategies according to established objectives and goals
  • 50% Assists with recruitment, personnel resource allocation, new employee orientations, and maintenance of employee records according to established policies and procedures
  • 25% Prepares and organizes routine administrative communications, resources, and reports and maintains office equipment and supplies, under close supervision
  • 15% Receives and responds to inquiries in-person, via email, and through various communication mediums and relays information to appropriate entities

- 1-year human resources experience
- Recruitment experience, UW-Madison campus, Universities of Wisconsin (UW system)
- Workday experience


Work Schedule:

Varied based on department needs. Flexibility with work schedule 20 - 40 hours/week Monday through Friday


Work Type:

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.


Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended based on need and/or funding.


Salary:

Minimum $17.00 HOURLY
