A qualified CRNA responsible for the management of nurse anesthesia in collaboration with departments of anesthesia, surgery, and peri-operative administration. Develops and interprets organizational policies for budgets and personnel; assumes responsibility for safe and proper operations and quality control of equipment, techniques, and procedures; analyzes and evaluates activities to assure established quality patient care. The manager of CRNA services will structure their activities to anticipate and respond to the impact of managed care and other market forces on heath care delivery. The manager will ensure that the CRNA service line will provide seamless delivery of care, have superior outcomes, and maintain a competitive cost structure. The CRNA manager will collaborate with peri-operative leadership and staff to achieve the hospital's strategic objectives and mission: patient service, teaching, research, and community service. The CRNA manager serves as a direct link between the hospital strategies and the CRNA service line. Patient and family centered care at YNHH is demonstrated by working with patients and families based on 4 principles: participation of care, dignity and respect, information sharing and collaboration. This included providing service excellence by creating a great first impression by demonstrating exemplary customer service skills to patients, families, physicians, staff and support peri-operative personnel and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Administrative Responsibilities: CRNA Manager Specific Responsibilities:
    • 1.1 Must be a full time employee and work a 5 day work week, Monday through Friday with flexibility to meet the needs of the department. Weekend coverage as needed per perioperative demands. Weekend leadership rounding as needed.
  • 2. Operational Responsibilities: CRNA Manager Specific Responsibilities:
    • 2.1 Assists CRNA clinical coordinator regarding allocations of nurse anesthetists to ensure departmental needs are met while balancing PTO requests and CME requirements.
  • 3. Educational & Training Responsibilities: CRNA Manager Specific Responsibilities:
    • 3.1 Coordinates educational in-services with Lead CRNA for Training & Development on OR initiatives to promote patient safety.
  • 4. Clinical Responsibilities for CRNA Manager:
    • 4.1 Clinical anesthesia responsibilities and other activities are directed by work schedule needs.
  • 5. Personal and Professional Development: CRNA Manger Specific Responsibilities:
    • 5.1 Demonstrates an interest in learning current anesthesia techniques and integrates new information in the provision of anesthesia.
  • 6. Fiscal Management Responsibilities for CRNA Manager:
    • 6.1 Develops and manages a budget to ensure the delivery of cost-effective, quality care.
  • 7. Human Resource Management Responsibilities for CRNA Manager:
    • 7.1 Provides vision and leadership to staff in a collaborative environment that offers job satisfaction, recognition, and stimulates innovative thinking to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • 8. Customer Satisfaction and Outcome Management Responsibilities for CRNA Manager:
    • 8.1 Develops customer relations standards reflecting excellence consistent with hospital policy in collaboration of peri-operative leadership.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Graduate of a Nurse Anesthesia Educational Program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs or its predecessor. Current State of Connecticut Nursing License. Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in the State of Connecticut.

EXPERIENCE

Employed as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist with at least 3 years of experience. Experience in a CRNA leadership role preferred.

LICENSURE

Hold current CT license as a registered nurse and advance practice registered nurse. Complies with state statutory and regulatory requirements concerning advanced practice registered nursing. Is currently recertified as defined by the AANA Council of Recertification.. Candidate must also be a member in good standing with the AANA.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Demonstrates current competency in clinical responsibilities Holds BLS and ACLS certifications. Demonstrates current competency in the management/clinical responsibilities for which the candidate is applying.


Additional Information

Our CRNA team has expanded significantly in both size and scope, highlighting the need for increased leadership presence and support. This new manager role will specifically focus on our sub-specialty anesthetizing areas, including Pediatrics, OB, Digestive Health, and Non-OR Anesthesia. The CRNA Manager will play a key role in providing leadership and guidance within these specialized areas, ensuring the highest standards of care, and fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. This position requires at least 3 years of CRNA experience, preferably with demonstrated leadership experience as a CRNA. A doctorate degree is preferred. Must have or be eligible for the following licenses: CT APRN and RN, CRNA certification, BLS, ACLS, DEA, CT controlled substance.
