Summary of Job Duties:The Office of Innovation for Education Director will lead and direct/manage the Office of Innovation for Education. This position will operate an Office of Innovation for Education to advance innovations in learning, assessment, and accountability systems through data-informed inter- and intra-agency collaboration with the Arkansas Department of Education leadership. The Director of the Office of Innovation for Education will lead/facilitate a highly skilled, high-functioning team of professionals to support their self-directed and collaborative strategic work to meet grant deliverables in a manner that leads to continual, successful refunding.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Education Statistics and Research Methods or a related field conferred by the start of employment from an accredited institution of higher education

  • At least five years of experience in education research and policy, including work with statewide data systems and federal and state accountability systems

  • At least five years of experience managing multiple concurrent high-stakes projects involving research, programming, and data management to support data analytics and research projects

  • At least five years of experience in data management and data analytics with multiple data programming languages such as SAS, R, and Python

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least two years of experience leading or facilitating teams of professionals to support their self-directed and collaborative work that leads to successful refunding

  • At least two years of experience in education research and policy, including work with Arkansas statewide data systems and Arkansas accountability systems

  • At least two years of experience as a teacher or administrator within the P-12 education system

  • Experience working within or supporting a high-trust, highly transparent work environment and values-based strategic planning and operations

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge of and work with Arkansas statewide data systems, Arkansas accountability system, and the federal system

  • Knowledge in leading a professional environment that ensures compliance with confidential and sensitive information

  • Knowledge of innovative learning systems and professional learning that improves educational outcomes

  • Experience and skills in developing relationships with state and federal government leaders, exercising discernment in handling sensitive and embargoed knowledge and data

  • Demonstrated flexible thinking and ability to handle ambiguity/ confidentiality for extended periods

Additional Information:

This position is renewable annually based on continued need for the position, availability of funding, and satisfactory job performance.
