Position Summary
Flexible work arrangements, including virtual/hybrid work locations, are an integral part of the School of Medicine's Working Forward initiative. As such, this position's work location is designated as virtual. Please note that the designated work location is subject to change based on the unit's business needs.

The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a full-time fixed-term faculty member at the rank of Clinical Instructor to work in the Intensive Outpatient Program. Treatment services include clinical assessments, individual/family therapy and group therapy to patients who are being referred after a psychiatric hospitalization and still needing more intensive services than traditional therapy or patients being referred by community providers to avoid psychiatric hospitalization. The clinician will provide short-term therapeutic services and case management services as part of the treatment team. Duties will include completing comprehensive clinical assessments, as needed, developing treatment plans, facilitating groups and individual sessions, collaborating with patients, family members, and others involved in patient's care, and educating patients and family members on available resources. Document all clinical work thoroughly in the EMR within established time frames. Participate in team meetings and other departmental meetings and trainings.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Applicants must have a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work, Counseling or a relevant field and have a full North Carolina licensure to practice ( LCSW or LCMHC). Provisional licensees are not eligible.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Experience working with adolescents and adults in group settings.
- Experience providing leadership and psychiatric services as part of a team is also preferred.
- Additionally, it is desired that the successful candidate will have strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
