Under the supervision of a physical therapist, provides assistance with clinic setup and limited patient care. Will partner with physical therapists to provide exposure to the physical therapy profession and exposure to clinical experiences related to any applicable program.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists therapist with patient care as requested
- Maintains clinic readiness for therapeutic procedures
- Utilizes interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and professionals
- Sets personal goals and objectives demonstrating initiative
- Takes an active role in the performance improvement process
- Apprentice will function within all guidelines under the WI practice Acts for therapyDuties that may be specific to program:
- Practice infection control and safety
- Setup treatment area
- Assist to explain treatment to the patient
- Position client on therapy equipment
- Clean and restock after procedure
- Maintain inventory
- Apply compression stockings and/or other assistive devices as requested and based on patient needsUnder the direction of medical personnel may assist with:
- Learn and/ or measure vital signs
- Be able to assist therapist with performing range of motion exercises for patients
- Assist patient or therapist with prescribed programs
- Assist client with gait training
Education and Experience High school student or high school graduate who is in an educational track for a rehab profession. Certification and Licensure Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.
