Nature of Work: Summary:
This work involves planning and leading a variety of recreational programs and activities such as but not limited to nature and ecology classes, archery, arts and crafts, and orienteering in day camp setting. Campers include children who have completed 2nd grade through 8th grade.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Competencies and skills:
Essential:
* Knowledge of the science of nature related activities for youth.
* Knowledge of the principles and techniques of administering outdoor education.
* Knowledge of techniques and rules for programs/activities.
* Ability to adhere to safety policies, procedures and guidelines.
* Ability to organize and conduct outdoor classes on biological and/or ecological related topics or classes in a sport or crafts.
* Ability to communicate effectively with workmates and the public.
* Ability to understand oral and written instructions.
* Ability move about the facility 75 to 100% of the workday.

Essential Functions: (Any one position may not perform all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all of the duties that may be performed in positions allocated to this classification.)

Detailed responsibilities:
* Supervises and coordinates activities to promote nature and natural science awareness.
* Responsible for the upkeep of each of the area in the park designated for your program/activity such as maintaining the plant and animal life in the nature center, archery targets etc.
* Coordinates and lead activities for campers.
* Provides instruction for program/activity.
* Sets equipment out and collects all equipment daily.
* Assists in Friday special activities.
* Prepares certificates and awards and distributes them at the Friday programs.
* Enforces safety guidelines associated with camp program.
* Performs other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates within the scope of this classification.
* Camp Specialist
In addition to the functions listed above, the following duties will be performed by staff assigned to the Camp Specialist role:

* Coordinates and leads activities in a specialized area of camp programming such as archery, nature skills, or ropes course.
* If Assigned to the Camp Specialist Role the additional duties will be assigned:

Special Qualifications: Other information:
Must be at least 16 years of age by June 2, 2025.

Must be at least 18 years old to perform the Camp Specialist duties.

Must be able to work varied times, including some evenings.

Must be able to work outdoors all day.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certifications.

Knowledge of the science of Biology.

Pay Range: $15.50+ per hour
